“The Soho sweet spot...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014 via mobile

This Hotel is perfect for keeping you close to all those Soho favorites. The discreet entryway and outside area in front give an intimate feel, almost hidden find. Partly due to the entrance being in a street that doesn't go thru.
Grabbing a cab can be difficult but use the back exit & it's easier or tell the bell guys who were great about hunting a cab down.
Rooms are NYC small but great drawer space utilization under beds gives plenty of space to pack away your purchases from all the great stores nearby!
Great bar on site, didn't eat there but drinks were fabulous.

we stayed here for a couple of nights during our honeymoon , hotel was nice , very hip and plush, nice bar area and hotel is well located for exploring lower Manhattan ,room was an adequate size with a nice white marble bathroom and walk in shower we also had the use of an in room iPad which was a nice touch... air con was the noisy but seeing as there was a heat wave I wasn't an issue for us! . we ordered room service one evening food was top notch, breakfast though was poor and the worst aspect of this other wise impressive hotel.. (coffee or juice...)

There were some really very good things about the Mondrian - location wise it's great, and the bar / restaurant Isola is absolutely wonderful. It looks sleek and has a very contemporary feel. the room was clean and smart and had a wonderful view. The concierge was great, helping me organise our stay when we were still in the UK.
My only criticisms might be that the room was really very small - tiny in fact. There is no facility to make yourself a coffee in the room either. The air conditioning unit was so loud I thought we were next to a building site! When we left, at 5 am, there was absolutely no sign of the bell man anywhere and we couldn't find a cab. The lovely chap from reception tried to help us, but eventually the bell man turned up and was quite unhelpful. Eventually he suggested we hop in a car which was unmarked which we were not comfortable with, so we ended up having to wander off on our own as we were concerned about missing our flight!
I'd say based on this, I would recommend visiting the Mondrian for the bars which are fabulous. but we will probably look for somewhere else to stay next time we visit.

I went with all the girls in my family to go shopping in NY. The hotel was perfect for us. Nice and classy rooms. Not a long walk to the main strip, where the shopping was very good. and at night when my cousin and I want back to the hotel after dark we felt safe. The room's was clean and quiet.

This hotel is nestled in a more quiet area of SoHo not so far away from the main strip of awesome shopping nearby but I was here for work! Accessible subway stops to get to mid-town, etc. and several options for food like Chinatown only a few blocks away. WiFi is free (thank goodness) and the bar along with restaurant just downstairs in the lobby (I didn't partake though). Overall, if you're just there to stash your luggage, sleep & shower it is definitely great! Only confusing thing for me was finding the Front Desk which was upstairs and not much signage to point you in the right direction. Luckily, one of the employees saw me shuffling around in confusion and brought me to the elevators the first night!

I spent here my holidays from the 23rd of december to january the1st. Our room was very small, the heating was awfully noisy (looked like being on an helycopter), there was constantly smell of kitchen in the hallway. We bought vouchers for breakfast but it was very poor (an espresso or cappuccino were not included). Bed was not fixed before 4pm.
good points are only location and view.
They just sell image.....people working there were nice but too young.

Room Tip: Only high floors

We booked the Mondrian Soho through BA using air miles, chose it specifically for the location (close to Greenwich Village, SoHo, Little Italy etc.) as we wanted to be out of the usual tourist trap but easily able to get to midtown and lower Manhattan. Firstly I should say that the hotel is in a great spot, surrounded by lots of shops, restaurants, cool bars, pubs and coffee shops. There is a tube station very close by making it really easy to get around the city. The walk to Times Square, Rockefeller area was around 25 mins, 10-15 mins to Washington Square Park. On arriving at the hotel we where met at the Crosby Street entrance by the door staff. Really helpful and offered to take our luggage up to our room once we'd checked in (helpful as the reception is on the first floor). The hotel kindly upgraded us to really nice room on the 19th floor with a amazing view of the midtown skyline, this view made the room feel really special (thank you to Isabel for making that happen). We had heard that the rooms were quite small, we did not find that to be a problem and we had plenty of room for 2 cases and all our stuff. Room had a fridge, dressing area and even a nice seating are right by the window with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The hotel lobby is really nice, clean and stylish with a lovely bar restaurant area. We didn't eat there but did have drinks on a couple of occasions, really nice. All in all we found the hotel to be a really comfortable base with everything we needed right on our doorstep. When back in NY we will definitely be staying at the Mondrian.
