“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Overall a good experience at the Mondrian Soho. I stayed only for 1 night, so I did not have much time to enjoy all the hotel has the offer. First thing when I got to the hotel, I noticed the bellman wears regular cloths, which almost looked like mine. Kind of confusing but i was cool with that. Then getting in the hotel, I was a bit disappointed by the ''poshness'' of the place. From the people in the bar to the smell of the hotel to the music that was playing, it was very poshy and superficial. As we got to the check in, we were upgraded to a suite. Which was amazing, because we only booked a standard room. The girl at the front desk was very kind.

The suite looked great, very simple, but very nice and clean. The suite had an Ipad we could use to browse the internet which was very pleasant. Rooms have bathrobes, nice toilet amenities, a pretty large shower.. The suite isn't very big tho, i'd say around 400sqf, which is a about the size of some rooms in other new york hotels. Still, much better than their 170sqf standard room.

Area is great, right in the center of Soho and walking distance of the Village. Overall we enjoyed it, I would maybe return.

“Not quite too cool!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

I stayed at the Mondrian Soho on my own for a few days in early January. The room was small - as are most NY hotel rooms unless you pay through the nose - but perfectly comfortable. The white bedding and soft, thick duvet and pillows were delightful to sink into after a long day and late night.

Lovely shower and toiletries. It didn't bother me that the vanity unit was in the bedroom, although I realise some people find that a problem.

Breakfast was delicious - as was the service. Coffee poured even before I realised I was ready for a second cup. In fact, the staff were all helpful and friendly - particularly the bellhops, who greeted me cheerily as I came and went.

I arrived from a long flight pretty late and wanted a quick meal so chose the hotel restaurant. In the evening, this is an incredibly buzzy place that attracts a cool crowd: not ideal for eating alone but the food was terrific. The place's 'cool' factor extends to the lifts, where the music - which is pretty loud in the lobby - feels rather overwhelming. Not enough to spoil the trip!

“Tiny rooms, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

You have to ask yourself what you want from your hotel in NYC. If it is a great Soho location, cool lobby, chic and happening bar scene, tiny rooms but with super comfy beds and linens and great views of Manhattan skyline.. then choose the Mondrian. I am a former NY'er but now live in Europe. Stayed at Mondrian with my teenage daughter. We literally had to take turns to pass at the end of the bed, space was so tight! I would say this is the place for hip singles and couples. NOT family oriented. Breakfast / restaurant room impressively decorated. Request a high floor, it is NYC after all. I would stay again, but upgrade from the standard room for space. Free coffee and NY Times in the lobby for the early risers, like me, was nice.

Room Tip: Request a high floor with a view, away from the elevator bank.

Loved it. Super sleek and beautifully furnished. The Deluxe rooms are a perfect size with beautiful touches. Breakfast in the Isola is great. Order the greek yoghurt with homemade granola. You will not be disappointed

“OK - very feminine - but comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Good hotel in NYC - its very trendy and has a good location on Crosby street. New York hotels can be noisy from various street noises - this hotel is tucked away on a quiet side street (if your room faces Crosby - facing Lafayette is a little noiser...). Good also as its a tall hotel - others in the area are a little bit more low rise - so noisier... Its a good hotel and comfortable. As I visited on business it was great as the bed was really comfortable. It tries a little too hard though and almost too `trendy` for its own good. The staff have a bit of attitude and room service poor / expensive and slow (have had several experiences - not just a one off). No coffee available on the floor or in the room (as it is in the Soho Grand) so you have to go to the lobby - not so great with jet lag and in need of a coffee in the early hours... Some of the rooms have the bathroom IN the room - not good - some dont though. The rooms are very feminine - again ok - but a little too many cracked glass mirrors / crystal wine glasses for me! Good hotel - not shabby - but tries too hard to look good but doesnt deliver on service.
