We just got back from a weekend at The James where we celebrated the one year anniversary of our engagement and had an absolutely stellar weekend. I didn't want to go home! The hotel was a very convenient location for us, as most of our plans were in the SoHo, TriBeCa area of NYC. It was a little over a mile walk to the 911 Memorial and Battery Park with tons of great restaurants, shops and bars nearby.
We were greeted with warm welcomes and the front desk checked our bags until our room was ready. The room was modern, clean and about the size of what you'd expect for a NYC hotel room. Loved the bathroom shower!
The hotel is located near the entrance of the Holland Tunnel so you'll hear lots of horn honking, but you're going to hear horns no matter where you go in city.
Kate, the bartender on the main floor was a sweetheart. She was super friendly and gave us several great suggestions for places to go. Thank you to Kate for her "Big Three" - they were big hits! Also, the guy with the long hair who works at the front desk is also really nice and helpful with a sense of humor. The housekeepers were also very friendly and accommodating.
Saturday night we went up to Jimmy for a drink, where the vibe was a little more "cool" - too cool for us. We're old and not that hip, so we had a glass of wine, enjoyed the spectacular views and hit the sack.
Would definitely recommend the hotel and would love to stay here again.
