“Refreshing atmosphere with a modern touch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

This was an unexpected weekend retreat. Stepping into the lobby and my room, I was refreshed with the variety amenities and feeling of openess combined with the modern architecture & fixtures, all located in a great neighborhood. This place is a hidden jewel! The view from our room was incredible - Williamsburgh bridge on one side, Empire State building on the other. I thought being so close to So-ho parking would be impossible, but I found a spot on Kenmare in two minutes. Try their chicken sliders at the restaurant below!

The hotel is well located off Little Italy, close to Bowery and Lafayette Street. Tiny rooms with good design, well equipped with slippers and bathrobe. But if you look for great substance look somewhere else. Rooms are too small to accomodate 2 people, heating system is very noisy and keeps going on/off al night. Cold air comes into the room from the window and noisy deliveries start on Kenmare St at 5am. Breakfast very expensive and not well assorted. Service is average :could get a good cab to the airport, did not accept credit cards even if i asked twice to do so, was waken up at night by front man coming along with pizza delivery even if "don't disturb sign was on my door". If you want a good sleep go somewhere else.

I stayed here for a film screening that I had at the Anthology Film Archives and the hotel was one of the highlights of my stay. The lobby is cosy and cool with an amazing selection of art books to peruse and each room has original affordable art for purchase. My room was small, but adequate for me and had a clean, minimalist feel that made me feel ultrahip. The amenities were all I needed and the staff was friendly, professional, personable and helpful without ever feeling like they were waiting for a tip. One staff member even helped me zip my dress! I would absolutely stay here again.

Needing a place in the city for the weekend, the Nolitan was a perfect fit. Though set in a trendy neighborhood, I found parking within two minutes just a block from the hotel. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, the staff were friendly and attentive. My corner room on the ninth floor had striking views of the Empire State Building to the left and the Williamsburg Bridge to the right. Though not spacious, the room was quite comfortable and immaculately clean. Initially needing a quiet place to get some documents read, the simple desk with late afternoon sun and stunning views of the city was ideal. In the evening, I met up with friends in the hotel's restaurant, called Ellabess. Dinner was delicious. As a group, we ordered several appetizers. Each was fixed perfectly. For my main dish, I chose the potato gnocchi with duck sausage. It was a perfect dish for a cold winter day. Getting back to my room after midnight, I slept great. The sun woke me up a little earlier than I would have liked. But that was my fault for not closing the curtains the night before. And actually it served me well. I caught breakfast at Ellabess just before their 10 am cutoff. Once again, delicious. I would regret to have missed it. Lingering unrushed with friends, it was a great start to a Sunday. I would not hesitate returning to the Nolitan the next time I am in the city.

We stayed for a long weekend and were greeted with warmth on a very cold NYC holiday weekend. Contemporary and stylish rooms with thoughtful touches everywhere. Including chocolates that were to die for. Robes and slippers that were ultra comfortable.
Just north of Little Italy, the Nolitan is walking distance to just about anywhere in the east or west village and if you want to venture uptown you have your choice of three different subway lines.

Room service was super tasty, down duvet and pillows, nicely designed. Would stay here again in a second.

Spent one night in Jan 2012 on business. Staff was flexible to accomodate early check-in after long flight (shower and off to client). Upon return in the evening, bathroom had been cleaned and towels replaced. Not something you see everyday. Nice. The location and makes for a change from the midtown hotels.
Do not let the naysayers put you off citing street noise: it is New York AND you have a views. Slept without a problem.
I would, however, suggest to go for a corner room as they are as far away from the elevator as possible: while there is some carpet in hallway, noise carries greatly in the hotel.

Room Tip: Corner rooms a necessity due to noise from hallway.
