Owner description: The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a place of remembrance honoring those who perished in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993. The 9/11 Memorial consists of two massive pools set within the original footprints of the Twin Towers with 30-foot waterfalls cascading down their sides. The nearly 3,000 names of the men, women, and children killed in the attacks are inscribed into bronze parapets surrounding the twin Memorial pools. This national tribute, located at the heart of the World Trade Center, also gives visitors the unique opportunity to witness the rebuilding taking place around them-including the construction of 1 World Trade Center, which is the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. “Sobering and stark”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Recently went here with friends for a first visit. A few important reminders. First, do not show up at the 9/11 site before first finding the ticket store several blocks away. Otherwise you will be walking back and forth. Second, there are no bathroom facilities near the memorial, so stop at the church near the ticket store before heading to the memorial. While there, check out the very personal and moving exhibits located throughout the church. Travel light because when you get to the site, you will go through a TSA like screening. The site is memorable. Try to go when it is not crowded. The volunteers, easily identified by their vests, are most helpful so talk to them, they know stuff no one else would know. The two fountains were perfectly symbolic and moving. The museum is not open yet, but will clearly be a great addition to a memorable memorial to a dark day in our history and those individuals who lost their lives.

“A Fitting Tribute”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

We will never forget this tragic day in American history. The memorial is a moving tribute to those we lost to this senseless crime. The twin pools with the inscribed names of the victims allow us to reflect on their memories.

“We will always rember”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

Waited about an hour in lines. We did not get tickets in advance but it didn't seem like there was much benefit to getting the ticket in advance. Went through 3 lines before getting to security. The pools are very calming and nicely done.

“Incredible!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2013

The day was fitting the experience. Weather was rainy and raw. It was an emotional time to say the least. We got in no problem no wait and I was more touched by it than I expected. I actually found a name inscribed which I never thought would happen being there are so many memorialized. I am so impressed with how they have created such a wonderful tribute with the reflecting pools. Once the museum is ready it will certainly complete this area. Peeking through the windows you can see part of the escalator and metal from the original buildings.
I am sure my words can't convey the true feelings I had as I was walking around this area.
