Note that this review is for the Comfort Inn at 136 Ludlow Street in the Lower East Side, just south of Houston. I think a previous reviewer has the wrong hotel, as their are other Comfort Inns and similar hotels in Lower Manhattan. This hotel just opened around May 2010 and so is brand new. Price was right. The location is great - I loved the streets near the hotel full of bars, restaurants, stores, etc. Very lively area. The room was very nice - comfortable bed, new carpeting, new bathroom, flat-screen TV. I very much liked having a fridge to keep beer and snacks cold. Staff was friendly and helpful. I had a room facing the back - not much of a view but quiet and good for getting a good night's rest.
One drawback though: the room was nice but very, very small. I know many NYC hotel rooms are small but this was the smallest I've ever stayed in. It was OK for one person but for a couple it might be pushing it. I would consider staying again, however, if the price was as low as this stay and I'm on a budget. Good to know it's there as I did really enjoy the location and comfortable bed, and having a fridge.
