My friends and I decided to go to the "W" to finish off a great evening of celebrating my sister's birthday..we went to the lounge..BEAUTIFUL!..we sat down in one of their many seating areas and the server came to take the order...5 seltzers (for the designated drivers) and 4 alcoholic beverages for the others plus a bottle of Proseco for the toast..we waited 20 minutes, no drinks so we sent out one of the husbands to see how much longer it would be..we were thirsty and the music was good..we wanted to have a good time...he came back with "bad news"..she had determined that she was not going to serve us because "she was too busy and she had other customers that she had to take care of"...HUH!..we looked at eachother in dis-belief..I guess that a group of 50 yrs old HISPANIC professionals are not worth serving drinks to at the "W"...we were shocked and quite humiliated..we were told that IF we still wanted drinks that we could go to the bar and get them ourselves...NOT VERY NICE...she obviously had no fear that she would be reprimanded for her behaviour and felt confident that the hotel would back up her decision to DISCRIMINATE..so be warned all of you HISPANIC customers..the "W" is not such a friendly place..trendy yes! but down right DIS-RESPECTFULL and insulting... SHAME ON YOU !!!!! we took a cab and went to the Standard Hotel and dropped $300.00 plus tip and were treated wonderfully..and by the way the crowd at the Standard was much trendier and much better looking than at the "W"...and it was much busier at the Standard..
