From the moment we pulled up in the taxi the service was great - bags taken care of with a smile, check-in, taken up to the room. Everyone we encountered was helpful and friendly.
The room (junior suite) was really beautiful - spacious, bright & filled with natural light due to the fantastic floor-to-ceiling window. The colours and decor felt like a bedroom, not an anonymous hotel room, and little gifts like a Miller Harris candle and pretty cupcakes made you feel like you were a valued guest, not just a number. I wouldn't have minded a bath as well as the shower but that's the only criticism.
Don't assume the taxi driver from the airport will know the hotel.
We didn't use the concierge so couldn't comment, and didn't eat in the restaurant, but did have drinks in the bar, which was buzzy and had a nice vibe. The service there was a bit... erratic, but fine as long as you weren't in a hurry. My room service breakfast was tasty and had huge portions!
This area has so many shops packed in - mainly international mid- to high-end brands, but is a short stroll from the Lower East Side for more independents, and Broadway has a lot of high-street chains. It's also a comfortable walk back from eating at one of Greenwich Village's restaurants, and just near a subway station that'll take you uptown, so it couldn't have been more convenient.
Not cheap, but if you've got the budget for it I'd happily recommend staying here. I hope to go back some time.
