A bustling hotel, with a very inviting lobby and a nice restaurant. In Soho, it is a slightly funky (tho grown-up) boutique hotel, near all the classic shopping, clubs and restaurants of Soho. It has been open only a year or two and is affiliated with a small wonderful hotel group with hotels in London (where I stay all the time). There is a lot to see and do in Soho. The rooms are very large, inviting, with good natural light, large windows, great mattresses, good storage and a good size modern bathroom. Our room only had a shower, which was fine for us. The large windows mean that you will need to pull the privacy screens down a good deal but this did little to reduce the charm. There is a work-out room and the wifi is free and works well. Having stayed so often in one of their London hotels, I felt right at home here.
The best things from my perspective were the service which was very good and friendly, with only a few "bobbles" or slight slowness. And the private reception room and patio with an honor bar for guests was excellent. The lovely outdoor patio was a real refuge from Soho noise and bustle, simply delightful and romantic in warm weather.
Unfortunatly one drawback is the distance to mid-town, if you have business or theatre in that area. It is near enough to the Seaport and Wall Street areas to walk (slightly long but interesting). Cabs seemed reasonably available, the doorman always ready to go find one, but the traffic getting out of the area and up to mid-town could be a problem if you are in a hurry or do not want to use the subway.
