“2nd Time as good as the first”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Took Dave's tour for the second time on my last trip to NYC. Had been about 4 years ago and it was fabulous again. What an expert Dave is on history, lore and not to mention the very best of food to be had. Look forward to taking the tour again when time permits. Dave's tour should be on the list of "Do Not Miss".

“2nd Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

This was our second tour with Dave. As before, it was AWESOME! Dave knows the places to go that you would never think of going. Fried Chicken in Harlem? I would not have stopped in this part of town let alone go for chicken. BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER! Thanks for the awesome tour....again.

“Stuffed with The Best of Brooklyn!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Dave lived up to his billing, taking my family of 6 on an unforgetable food tour of Brooklyn. The beauty of this tour is that it's real. By real I mean Dave picked us up in a New Jersey plated, beat up, robin blue egg minivan that he rents cheap and can afford bumps and scrapes and dings. You blend in nicely with the Brooklyn scenery! Dave himself is half the fun. He is full of energy and facts and talks and talks about the neighborhoods, its history, its residents and of course that one plate that the locals die for. That's what this tour is all about. Pick a neighborhood and within that neighborhood there is one concensus winning plate of food that the locals clamor for... and dave brings you to it. Simple. There is nothing fancy... just like the car. You will visit dives that you would never dream of going into and yet they have that pearl in the oyster something dish that will give you a religious experience. For my family of 6, ages 13, 16, 44, 46, 67 and 68 it was the Peter Pan cream donut that Tina Fay famously wants have sex with, sicilian pizza at L&H in Bensonhurst, the crazy good pulled pork sandwich in Little Mexico that my father in law proclaimed to be the best sandwich he ever had in his life and of course the pastrami in Sheepshead Bay that simply melts in your mouth... all life changing food experiences! This was the best 5 hours we spent in NYC in a long time. I lived in manhattan for 10 years and thought I knew a lot. This was new, different, fun and filling!

“Harlem and Bronx with Dave's Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We did Fat Dave's Tour last December 2011 when we had a great time in Brooklyn.

So this year we planned to see a different area of New York and visited Harlem and The Bronx. Great afternoon. Dave picked us up at Central Park then straight to Harlem for chicken!

Next on to The Bronx and here we saw varied areas and tried Broccoli Rabe then on to our next stop for very tasty and HOT Jerk Shrimp.

Over to City Island Avenue for a great plate of clams in a sauce with bread at an excellent restaurant called Artie's Steak and Seafood.

We then had raw oysters and urchins at Randazzo's followed by Italian sausage and coffee at a Deli. Finally hand piped cannoli to round off a perfect afternoon.

Dave is a great guide, nice chap, he is very knowledgable on all the areas of New York. We love his tours and New Yorkers are fascinated by his old cab, it has lots of room for he 4 of us.

We are from the UK and have seen Brooklyn, Manhattan, Harlem, The Bronx and we would never have had the opportunity to do this if it were not for these tours plus the bonus of visiting some great local eateries, not all high class restaurants but places where locals eat so we get to taste a variety of different cuisines and meet with the local people.

When talking to other people from New York some locals have not been as far as we have so we feel this has been a great way to get a feel for New York with Dave who also can tell us about the history and point out lots of landmarks we would never see.

I woud recommend Dave's tours, you'll see a lot of New York in a safe way and have some great food- that has to be good!

“You won't be disappointed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

My husband and I and our 17 year old son enjoyed a Junk in the Trunk tour with Dave and thoroughly enjoyed it. We sampled a Dominican orange juice, awesome pastrami sandwiches, cannoli, coffee soda and the best pizza we've ever tasted, just to name a few.
We were stuffed full of both great food and Dave's fabulous stories.
If you're looking for something outside of the ordinary then do a tour with Dave. He's a lovely guy and he's got the goods on where to go for some great food!
