“The reviews are true!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Distrikt during a long weekend trip in February, 2014. We had seen the excellent reviews and decided to give them a shot, and we're very glad we did. The room was as advertised, a deluxe king with a partial view of the Hudson River and the Empire State building. ("Partial" meaning the window looks out on the building next door, but if you look to the right or left, you can see the city quite well.) The sunset over the Hudson was magnificent! The room was large by NYC standards, very clean and in good repair, with a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage space (a large dresser and a bureau for hanging up clothes and jackets), and a Keurig coffee maker with free coffee and tea each morning. The only issue we had was the TV wasn't getting a signal on the first night. Not a big deal, as we weren't there to watch TV, but just a word to the front desk on our way out the next morning, and it was working fine that night!

The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. We arrived too early for check in, but they were happy to check and hold our bags while we did a little exploring. We took a bus from Syracuse, so the location across the street from the Port Authority bus terminal could not have been more convenient. And the free hot chocolate in the lobby was a nice touch on the cold winter nights.

I've seen several reviews mention the fact that there are some adult shops and a parole office on the same street, but they really aren't an issue. They're there, but not "in your face," so to speak. We didn't even notice the parole office until our last day there. We never felt unsafe, and the midtown location, close to Times Square and within a block of the subway station, made getting around very easy.

I highly recommend the Distrikt Hotel for anyone looking for a great room at a decent price in the heart of Manhattan. I know we'll be back!

Room Tip: Higher floors have very little street noise. The deluxe king rooms also have a great, if oblique, vi...

I can only echo what everyone else is saying about this hotel: friendly staff, clean rooms, convenient location, comfy bed, etc., etc. My contribution is to review the STANDARD ROOM. (Most others appear to be reviewing the upgrade rooms.) The description of the standard room on the hotel website almost sounds apologetic, but it is better than they boast. As advertised, the room would be ideal for one person. In fact, their standard is bigger than two other hotels I've stayed at (Empire and 6 Columbus). There were two of us and it was fine, keeping in mind that in NYC, you really are not going to spend loads of time in your room. Their website is correct in saying there is not a lot of clothes storage space. I had one large suitcase and used the rack; he had a carry-on and found a corner for it. Two large suitcases would overwhelm the room. The closet has enough room for two heavy (puffy) coats and a sweater or two, but not much else. (I guess it would be better in the summer months when you would not have the heavy coats.) The bathroom and shower are of good size. Although small-ish, the room did not feel claustrophobic probably due to the light colors and light coming from the window. We faced the back and the structures behind are sufficiently spaced to allow for light. Overall, it is a terrific place. I was able to find one of those book now offers that made this place one of the best hotel deals ever for NYC. So, keep your eyes open; you never know. This is my fourth different hotel in NYC, and this one had the friendliest staff. Nesha, in particular, was so helpful. I also really appreciated the cucumber or citrus water in the lobby. The location is convenient. The street is not charming, but nothing in the Times Square area is. There are three hotels in a row here, so there are probably more tourists walking around than anything else. If this place is on your list of hotels, you will not do better than staying here.

This was a wonderful hotel. Great location within walking distance to Times Square and MSG. The room was much bigger than we expected for an NYC hotel, and the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: We were upgraded by the wonderful staff, and were put in a great room on a higher level

I stayed at the Distrikt with my mum for a 5 day trip to NYC. The hotel was very clean and ideally situated. People had said expect a tiny room in New York but this was a good size and we weren't cramped at all. It was near enough to Times Square (about a block or 2) but not too close it's too much. Staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions. Breakfast was great and I can highly recommend the cocktails!!!
Only downside was the heating/ air con system that turns on every 30mins or so, was quite noisy, it didn't bother me however and the beds were so comfortable I slept really well!
The hotel arranged transport for us back to the airport which was handy.
All round an ideal hotel and location for a visit to the Big Apple would definitely use it again.

My Wife and I stayed at the Distrikt in preparation for attending the St.Patrick's Day Parade. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the always friendly Desk Staff. I had previously requested our room to be on an upper floor if possible. Not only did we get a room on an upper floor, we were upgraded to a King Room at no additional charge.

We have stayed at the Distrikt on numerous occasions and always find the rooms to be consistently neat and clean. Entire Staff is always extremely couteous and professional. The Distrikt is definitely our "go-to" Hotel whenever we visit NYC.
