“Excellent hotel - terrific value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2011

We came to New York for a theater weekend and decided to try the Andaz in the Financial District. We felt that the price of the room was a great value - especially for New York! This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. Our room was very spacious, and the bathroom was modern and sleek. The staff is professional, courteous, friendly and helpful. The Andaz is a two-block walk to the subway, and then it is an easy trip to Times Square.

Great value for money (at least at current rates). As first-time New York visitors we were initially a little concerned about the location but several subway lines are within a few minutes' walk. The informal check-in is a welcome innovation, as are the host of little extras (free soft drinks and snacks from the minibar, fresh coffee and tea served in the lobby, happy hour wine...). the rooms are large (esp. when you consider the location) with tasteful modern design and generously sized and appointed bathrooms. Stayed 5 nights and would definitely return.

The Andaz is like a new concept hotel from the Hyatt hotel group. There is no one to take your bags, hail you a cab, escort you to your room, and even no real front desk. Rather, the staff stands around a counter so that they seem like they are on your team in a way. Therefore, check in can be completed sitting down or standing next to a friendly staff member, all over a complimentary beverage.
The location was surprisingly great for being in the Financial District. There are many attractions within walking distance including the Brooklyn Bridge, South Street Seaport, and The Wall Street Experience Tour (highly suggested). However, there are few notable dining and drinking options nearby.
The lobby includes a striking grand staircase, which is expected from David Rockwell, the renowned architect who designed the hotel. Expect many other great design features in the hotel.
I stayed in the terrific “Andaz XL King” room. A notable feature was the bedside control panel that flawlessly controlled the lighting and electronic blinds in the entire L-shaped room. Despite this, the bed was way too firm and the thin-glassed door for the bathroom stall was an unwelcome surprise.
Free water, juice, and some of the best espresso I have ever had are provided in the lobby. I believe they use beans from New York’s “Gimme! Coffee.” The hotel’s restaurant Wall & Water served a great lunch.
The service was unfortunate on two occasions. An “eHost” member made my family a dinner reservation, which unfortunately was incorrectly made because we showed up to the restaurant where they had no indication of a reservation for us. This issue was resolved with the hotel a little over a week later. Also, a call for extra pillows one night was unsuccessful because they were out.

The Andaz Wall Street is definitely worth staying at, especially if the Financial District is where you want or need to be!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room on Water St. for water view!

What a wonderful hotel! I was there with a small group and we had booked 6 rooms.
We enjoyed the perfect service from the very beginning. Smooth check-in - than a
"wow" when entering the room: large, modern and the bathroom a real treat.
Complementary coffee ( italian style) all day in the lobby, a glass of wine from 6 - 8 pm and free soft drinks and snacks from the minibar - I would name this service on a high standard.
I liked the location very much, too. South Street Seaport, Brooklyn bridge, Battery Park,
WTC, NY Stock Exchange, all just around the corner. Stone Street at theback door of the hotel has lots of
restarants, pubs and cafes.

All in all a great stay - I would love to come back. Let´s see how the rates will be than.

First time New York visitors, stayed here 18th,19th March. This has to be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, the room was very spacious, and extremely modern with very comfortable beds. No tea and coffee in the room - but the Andaz has something far better, a 24 hour tea, coffee, drinks service in the lobby, proper expresso coffee, fine herbal teas, and comp snacks for guests at any time. Plus complimentary happy hour every night and free wifi!! The staff are young and super helpful, the food in the restaurant was fabulous, the non-standard check-in island was so much more friendly than the usual hotel. We stayed over a weekend to see the sights of southern Manhattan and the room rate was very good value for money. Walking distance to the ferries, WTC and discount dept stores.

We could not have made a better choice than the Andaz! I wasn't sure I would like such a contemporary hotel, but this changed my mind quickly. Greeted at the door as soon as we walked in and immediately was assisted with our bags at the curb. The service during our entire stay was impeccable.

The rooms were awesome. Loved the window seating and I could have taken one of the chairs home for my own use. My only wish would be that they had made us more familiar with the room, like the location of the panel for the darkening blinds and an explanation regarding how the shower (which was great) worked.

We enjoyed the complimentary Internet access and mini bar. I feel like they reviewed other hotel reviews and what is important to guests, then incorporated that into their hotel amenities.

I'm glad we strayed away from the more traditional hotels we are used to and stayed at the Andaz. We will definitely be returning guests.
