We have just returned from a girls shopping trip to New York and stayed at the Staybridge Suites Times Square, and have to say its the best hotel in New York we have stayed in!
The staff were so friendly, couldnt do enough to help us, and the staff working at breakfast time we so efficient with clearing tables ready for the next guest, they were happy, friendly and there is definately a team work vibe in this hotel which is lovely.
We had a room on 21st floor which overlooked the hudson river which was really nice. The rooms are so well equiped with everything you would need, if not more, it was so handy having a fridge, and have to say it was huge!
Jamie was an absolute legend, we felt like we had known him for years - taught us his secret handshake!
The location was spot on for Times Square, we were shopping until very late at night as the shops are open, and it was only a 5 minute walk back to the hotel, and we all felt safe.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of going to New York - its a hidden gem!

Stayed for 6 nights with a friend and loved the Staybridge.
Well located to most attractions without being slap bang in Time Square madness. Great selection of bars and eateries on 9th Avenue only 100m away. Snobs might find the location slightly "seedy" with a few Sex shops and the probation office nearby. But this is NY and I love to mix it with the locals!!!
The room was well appointed and reasonable size by NY standards. Staff were excellent and very accomodating. The hotel has a free buffet breakfast each day and on Tues, Wed, Thurs free tappas and drinks(beer, wine etc) from 5-7pm. If your stay here and love to shop for interesting gifts, make sure to check out Hell's Kitchens Flea Markets on Sat & Sun down on 39th St and for excellent beers and bar food go to Shorty's Sports bar just around the corner on 9th near 42nd. Ask for Ron, he'll look after you!

Excellent hotel. great location - a few minutes walk from Time Square and right across the road from Port Authority if you need to get the bus or subway anywhere. The room was spacious with a fridge, cooker, microwave and coffee pot. There was a flat screen TV (never turned it on but it was there anyway). We had 2 beds - two queen sized - and they were the most comfortable beds we ever slept in. Nice bathroom with a stand alone shower, so no climbing into the bath. Pleanty of towels, shampoo, soap etc. No shower cap though. The breakfast was included and was great. There is a rush for seats but they open up the bar if things get busy. Staff were friendly and the place was spotless.
There is a gym there but we didn't use it.

We had a great time the 2 week of November - this was recommened by friends and it was great. We were in town for fun and shopping. It is convienent for shows and for shopping. There are lots of great restaurants and bars within a few blocks - got to Shorty's Bar around the corner as it is very clean, great prices and good people. For NYC the room is good sized, very clean, and nice setup. The breakfast was wonderful - except the hordes of Europeans who took meals to go (come on people - what did you save? $5? grow up). Other than those mannerless narcisists, the staff was great. Very helpful tips on spots to eat. Ignore the comments on the elevators - sure it took a few minutes but plan accordingly. We walked or subwayed everywhere, but did find the cabs were not sure where it was so make sure you have address handy or get out on corner and walk last half block.
