Location is right in the heart of Manhattan two blocks from Times Square. Like others have said the street outside can look a bit seedy but no-one ever bothered us, and you very quickly reach the biz and the Subway.

The room was clean, fresh, well appointed with kitchen, great shower, TV. We even, if you knew to lean right then look left, had a view of the top of the Empire State Building, total bonus! And it was quiet through the night.

Boy, the breakfast room was busy, even saw someone eating standing up, although there was an overspill area which we never actually had to explore. We were lucky enough to enjoy the Sundowner Reception that they have midweek nights; similarly busy but people were friendly and happy to chat.

The concierge desk was very helpful, especially Cari who fixed us up with maps and tours when we didn't quite know where to start. We wouldn't recommend the City Sights blue hop on/off bus however. We missed our city cruise waiting for a blue bus while about 3 red ones came and went. We discovered through overhearing another guest that the concierge could arrange a shared van transfer to Newark Airport, and that saved us about 30 bucks over a taxi.

One or two minor problems; one day our room wasn't cleaned, but housekeeping came as soon as we contacted them. We were billed twice for renting one movie, but that was easily corrected. On the other hand the two bell guys gave an amazing impromptu rendering of Hit the Road Jack while we waited in the lobby for our airport van. So cool, Jersey Boys watch out!

Minor complaints sound really lame knowing how badly New York has suffered since Sandy hit. Anyway, what is needed is to get back working and showing off their great city to a slew of tourists, so good luck to NYC.

Stayed for 6 nights during Hurricane Sandy. Kept up to date about room servicing, internet access etc but standards pretty much maintained during our stay. Great location, good breakfast, nice touch - the wine and snacks - which were pretty substantial. Room perfect for family, with fridge, microwave etc. Yes the lifts are a bit slow, and yes it is busy at breakfast but life is really to short to worry about such things!! Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone!

I stayed in this Times Sq hotel for 8 nights in August 2012 a standard room, and I left really pleased!
The room: full equipped kitchen, full fridge, oven, just what you'd need if you'd rather eat in the room than in a restaurant. Big comfy bed, confortable bathroom (shower, no tub), big TV, desk... everything clean, new, in perfect shape! Closet was tiny, and the room could've been a little bit bigger but overall it's a very nice room. The room was on the 22nd floor on a corner, so it was quiet, and we even had a small window with a view!
Location: it's perfect, 42nd St Station was right on the corner!! A Duane Reade shop on the same corner made so easy to grab a snack on the way back
The hotel in general: service was great, staff was always available for us. We loved the free laundry machines downstairs, the gym looked so new I thought it has never been used, a few PCs with a printer, breakfast was good, and they also had this "Social Events" with free food and drinks from Monday to Thursday. Some areas could great crowded depending the hour of the day (elevators and breakfast mostly).
Would totally stay here again given the chance!

Came back today after our eventful trip during Hurricane Sandy. Hotel staff were friendly and really helpful and their customer care during Hurricane Sandy was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to help secure us another night if it was needed. Luckily JFK opened on Wednesday so we were able to catch our original flight but their reassurance certainly calmed a few nerves for us. Breakfasts are really good with a choice of hot and cold buffet which is included in the cost of the stay - can be a bit crowded at peak times but they do have extra seating in the bar, so we tended to have an early breakfast to avoid the rush. Location is good just a few blocks from Times Square - I did read the review about the area before we went - but no problems for us at all. To be honest I would have not have even known there was a parole office on the same street if I had not read about it beforehand. Room was clean and and the kitchen area is well equiped (only small thing I could mention was there was no kettle and when we asked there was not enough to go around) the beds are really comfortable. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
