“Great Views, not so great drinks!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

Visited here with my boyfriend in January, Firstly we arrived and entered through a lobby and down a corridor to a lift, which was bit strange! When we exited the lift we were directed to the outside rooftop area where we picked up a red hooded fleece to keep warm outside! The views were amazing , especially of the Empire State building! We then ordered some drinks from the outside bar, Me and my boyfriend both ordered the hot peach cider with peach vodka, for $16 dollars each, I was expecting it to be amazing! however it was extremely sweet and sickly and didn't taste very alcoholic at all considering the price! After the first drink, we were pretty cold, so decided to move into the inside bar, we found a great table with no problem and then proceeded to order drinks from a waitress. The waitress took our orders and then asked for a credit card to be held behind the bar, We thought this was a bit strange, so queried her as to why this was necessary, She then proceeded to be rude and say it was a policy!..hmm. Anyway , I ordered a Bellini cocktail, and my boyfriend ordered a Stella. The beer came in a tiny glass which wasn't even a pint, and my Bellini tasted like cheap fizzy wine!
It's a shame, because the place is really nice and the views are great, however I think more attention is needed on the drinks and service. The prices are very steep, however most of which you are probably paying for the view!

“Incredible Rooftop Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

If you visit NYC you can't miss the views from this rooftop bar. Great place for anyone during any season. It can get crowded at night so go early and grab a space to relax and enjoy the surrounding architecture.

“Go for the view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I reccomend this place for tourists because it is possibly the best rooftap view in the city. It is incredible. The actual bar has become crowded and touristy but the appeal isn't the clientale but the view. I have also had brunch here during the day (food not great, view amazing). Go for the view.

“Sick View and atmosphere/food n drinks ok”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

So althought the website says no reservations... We called at 6:30 and made 8:30 reservations. Theysaid they take them up until 9pm. When we arrived the girl told us to sit anywhere... I had to inform her we made a reaervation. She then walked us to a table that had our name on it. (This table was not the smaller type tables that filled most of the pethouse area). You have to give a credit card to, "start a tab" but have the option to pay cash at the end. The deinks are expensive "14" for a martini.. It was ok... Only 3 types of beer. Food menu is limited... Our dinner was ok. Penthouse atmosphere was very nice.. Dark.. Cool led color lighting. After dinner we went upstairs!! The rooftop was excellent!! Sick view.. Empire state building right there... Heaters... And red robes with hoods to keep warm! We got hot chocolate the was good though not like 7-11!! You can smoke outside if thats tour thing. Definitly a great night! Bring your camera!!!!!!

“New York Panorama”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

The outside bar is not to be missed which is one floor up from the 230 Fifth restaurant. NYC is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, especially lit up at night from the 21st floor. The Empire State Building was lit in green & red and smack-dab in the middle, but the rest of Manhattan's lights were sparkling as were their shrubbery...very festive! They provide red hooded capes and there are heaters above every seat and we were comfortable in 35 degree weather. We had the drink special, Candy Cane (dark hot chocolate with peppermint syrup and Godiva dark). A perfect way to end a day of Christmas shopping!
