“More gentrified”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We visited Harlem as a part of the bus tour. Its a historic black neighbourhood but is undergoing gentrification and rising rents are pushing out its many inhabitants. You see a vibrant area, including people selling dodgy goods from suitcases, the historic Apollo theatre and former President Bill Clinton's office. Mosques, churches the area is more cosmopolitan than you think.

“Dont go alone at night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Even though this area is definitely very interesting, due to its jazz history, and is pretty safe by day, I still wouldn't go yourself at night. We were there with a local, who comes there all the time, and even he said that you shouldn't go there with ur camera or dressed nicely at night. If you do decide to go, for example to the Apollo theatre, take the cab.

“Harlems Harlem.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Harlem will always be Harlem. Not much change, except the age of the brownstones. Very full of culture and thriving history. But the ever looming Ghetto and behavior of people just doesn't seem to change.

“Revival”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We had heard that at one time you did not dare to go into this area.
Even so we went and were amazed at the re development going on. This area has some of the best architecture in New York and the tenement blocks are under renovation. Harlem is destined to become a new up market place to live and only 10 mins by Subway from the centre of manhattan.

“Daily dollar”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Work in the area, on the past year it has improved from what it used to be in the 90's. Neigborhoods are changing, in the 20s, 30s, was a white neighborhood now it is returning to that. Expect high priced housing as this is Manhattan, subway and buses are widely available. Though people make what a neighborhood is and there are a lot of shady ones around.
