“Perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

Stay in this hotel if your main purpose in NYC is to see the sights. Practically everything is within a comfortable walking distance. The subway is a few meters to the left as you exit the hotel. For daily mass goers, St. Patrick's Cathedral is a 10 minute walk from Radio City Apartments. It was always nice to get back to clean and calm surroundings after a chaotic day in the city. I enjoyed bumping into the cheery service staff along the corridors and elevators.

We enjoyed our accommodation thoroughly. We stayed for 7 nights in a 1-bedroom apartment with 2 double beds that allowed smoking - hard to find these days. We loved everything, especially that we could open the windows to air the room. Location was perfect - 2 blocks from Times Square, it was very clean, packages of coffee provided every day, full-sized fridge, found a store just a block away to shop for milk, cheese, crackers, yogurt, fruit, etc. Gas stove provided but we never found the opportunity to use it - too busy seeing the sights. Subway station practically outside the door. Staff was very friendly. Safety deposit box provided in lobby with dual custody, just like a bank. Great Italian restaurant on the premises where the food was excellent and reasonable prices. This was definitely our "home away from home" and we would recommend it without hesitation. Couple tips - have breakfast at "Fluffys" - 3 blocks north on 7th - great food - and take in "Amateur Night" at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem on Wednesday nights. What a fun night - It was the highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are nice and quiet.

Out the door ..turn right one block..Rockefellar Center.Turn left..Times Square. Doesn't get any better than this. PLUS..subway entrance at the end of the block. Don't expect any hotel ameneties like a restaurant or bar on premises...but you're in NYC!Don't need them. Pricewise..best deal in town. Kid friendly since there's a "kitchenette" in the rooms. Save $$ by bringing stuff they can eat. Lots of room options. Have stayed in both single and two bedroom. Staff very helpful. This is NOT a flashy place. Individual AC are brought in in the summer. What I DO like is its only 8 stories high...DON'T have to wait forever for elevator. Driving?? $25 overnite rate in garage on 46th and you can walk thru the promemade cut thru to the hotel. Lastly..great little Italian family owned restaurant next door to the LEFT..Bella Italia. Both adult ..and kid friendly.

We recently stayed for 9 nights, could not fault the apartments, always being cleaned, staff very friendly, were apprehensive due to previous reviews, staff are always happy to help with any issues all staff very polite and friendly. Location for exploring manhattan perfect, right on a subway and near bus stops etc. We got private car service to airport provided by hotel was prompt and friendly. Perfect stay, perfect location cannot wait to return.

I was in NY for a conference and needed a room near Times Square. Radio City was the only hotel in my target price range. It was fun -- you get real keys and a kitchen stocked with cutlery, plates, and glassware. It was super clean. Only drawback is that the shampoo/soaps are very basic and the bed covers are a bit dated. But the spaciousness of the apartment and location are worth it!

You simply will not find a better equipped, clean and spacious accommodation for this price so close to Times Square and the bright lights. My friends hadn't been to NY so I wanted somewhere central (when you've been a few times that becomes less essential as you know the Metro gets you anywhere pretty quickly, and the cabs are cheap).
We chose an apartment with 2 double beds in the bedroom, and a double sofa bed in the lounge. It also has a small kitchenette (large fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery, sink etc). The bedroom is not small - no sense of being cramped. The lounge is even larger and without putting the double sofa bed away for a week there was plenty of room, and it also has a 4 person table and chairs. Depending on what you're used to, you might think the decor is a bit drab. It wasn't 'tired' or peeling or damaged, just those sort of generic hotel colours, rather than, say, the sleek silver and bright elements of something like a City Inn. But hopefully you don't go on holiday to stare at the wallpaper.
The air con in the bedroom was noisy but effective. It cooled the room down very quickly. I got used to the noise after a while, and actually slept through it a few times after a night out.
Even on the 9th floor the noise of the city below carries! There's no escaping it - that's New York! Take ear plugs if you're very sensitive. As for other guests, I never once heard any people in the corridor nor any above, below or through walls.
The lifts are quite slow - they feel faster when you're finally in them. We were on the 9th floor but often walked down the stairs. 7 people with luggage squeezed into the lift when I was there so they're not too shabby.
There is free wi-fi throughout the building. On the 9th floor the signal strength was very good. It cut out sometimes but that's no complaint. Free wi-fi is a gift when you want to tell your friends about the amazing places you're going!
The staff on check-in were very helpful. They required to hold the cost of the entire stay against a credit card, but let us know we could split that cost when it came to final payment. A week later they were perfectly happy to store our bags for us when we had a day to kill before our flight. There was no holding out hands for tips in this hotel. All the service was given freely and generously. The maid did the best she could bearing in mind we were exceptionally untidy and often still in the room when she tried to enter.
Like everyone else, I looked through so many reviews trying to work out what to do. There is nothing wrong with Radio City Apartments! It's a gem! Don't sit on the fence. I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely go back. It's not The Ritz but you're not paying for The Ritz, and it's not a Travelodge either! There was nothing bad about my entire stay here.

Room Tip: Higher rooms probably have less NYC noise pollution, though the difference may be negligible!
