“A truly wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My daughter and I stay at the Palace each year for a mother-daughter get away and we have been doing so since she was small (she is now 25). The Palace is a lovely, elegant hotel and it has never disappointed us. My husband and I recently stayed there as we celebrated our anniversary and the entire staff made our our stay truly special. The room was lovely, spotless, and spacious. The staff was warm, accessible, and knowledgeable. Though our days were busy, we returned each night to a welcoming hotel. This hotel continues to have my hightest recommendation

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral if it is available.

We used Hotwire to book the hotel which saved us quite a bit of money. We were surprised when the person at reception said she was going to upgrade our room to the 27th floor with a view of St. Patrick's Cathedral! Also, our room was recently renovated. Opening our blinds each morning to that view was absolutely wonderful. Our beds were very comfortable and our room was quite spacious especially for NYC. There wasn't a closet but there were ample drawers. There was a refrigerator but no coffee maker. The Moulton Brown toiletries were a nice touch. The location simply can't be beat. We were within walking distance to so many places: Central Park, Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral, 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center, and 8 blocks to Grand Central Station. George, the doorman, was so friendly and helpful. We did not think the walls were paper thin and I know we had people next to us. Staying at this hotel made our NYC trip special.

Room Tip: We were in Room 2720 and the view was spectacular.

Our recent stay at the NY Palace (4/11-4/13) was the first since the major renovation. First you cannot beat the staff or the location of the hotel, both A++++. And, while I have always regarded the NY Palace as one of the premier hotels to stay at in NYC, our recent stay completely exceeded our expectations. The new lounges and restaurants on site our outstanding. Trouble's Trust under the stairs is such a unique lounge that offers perfectly blended classic new york cocktails. Pomme Palais is the answer to a much needed onsite cafe offering high end pastries, coffees and savories. And the rooms...wow, modern design meets classical elegance. The palace has a very unique ambiance and the renovation did not loose that, in fact it highlighted the old school charm and beauty of the architecture and design of the building, yet enhanced it with clean modern accents. Can't wait to stay again!

We were pleased to experience the renovations since our last visit. The rooms are especially well appointed to serve your needs. The staff handled all of our requests promptly and efficiently. The bar with a TV needs to provide food service though.

The Palace was a beautiful hotel in every respect. I was impressed by the overall condition, the tasteful, classic accommodations, the attention to every detail a traveler would need. Most of all, the hospitality given by Stacy at the Front Desk was so key to our wonderful weekend. She was the definition of above and beyond. She truly was remarkable and we appreciated her thoughtfulness.

i stayed for a week in november 2013.was required to pay $18 or so per day for internet coverage.the website indicated that there was free internet coverage in the lobby.there was not.i enquired why not and was told that the service had been discontinued as people had been coming in from outside and availing if the service.
i suggested that the problem could be resolved by giving hotel guests an access code.was told that this "was not possible."
paying the hotel $450 per night and expected to pay for internet.the experience left a rather sour taste in the mouth. unlimited internet access was available in a coffee shop nearby for the price of a cup of coffee.

My room at this hotel was large and spacious. It was very clean and had a decent view from the 32nd floor. I really liked how bright the rooms became when the blinds were opened, but also how pitch dark the room became once the blinds came down. From the 32nd floor, it wasn't very noisy as well. I could barely hear street level noise.

One downside of the room though was the walls seem to be paper thin. I could hear every conversation my neighbours had - I'm just glad they weren't having sex. This could be because my room was a cojoined room divided by a door to the room adjacent mine, but I could hear voices not only from the room on that side, but also the other room adjacent mine (although not as clearly as the one I was connected to).

The gym at this hotel was great. It's the only hotel gym I've been to that has free standing barbells for you to load up. They're nice 45 lb bars with plenty of plates for you to load up on if you choose to do deadlifts, curls, snatches or anything else. There's also an assisted rack if you choose to do squats or other exercises without a free bar.

The service at the hotel could use a bit of improvement though. I found that most of the staff ignored me while I was waiting to check in or to check out. Also, the hotel provides umbrellas for guests, but only when you ask.

The hotel is located a block from 5th avenue and very close to Central Park and Time Square. Great location!

Room Tip: If you stay at this hotel and you're by yourself, make sure you're in a room that isn't...
