“Terrific experience- clean, beautiful hotel in good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Hubby & I spent 2 nights at the lovely Chelsea Pines Inn. We were primarily exploring the Chelsea/West Village area, so this was a perfect location for us with lots of great shopping and restaurants very near the hotel. We had good service on arrival, though the front desk receptionist forgot to book our airport transfer and we had to ask someone else the next day (this was resolved easily though and we had a smooth ride to the airport on the day of our departure). The room was adequate, a little snug, but with a great view of the garden, and very clean. We enjoyed both great breakfasts (meat, bagels, hard boiled eggs, coffee/espresso, and fruit) as well as tea/baked goods throughout the day in the garden at the back of the hotel. We were also grateful for the ability to keep our luggage secure when we arrived & on the day we left. The owner was there on the day we left, and gave us 2 great coffee mugs. A couple points: the bed was a double/full, and not the most comfortable in the world (but we had a standard room so perhaps an upgrade might be worth it); the internet did not work for us pretty much the whole time (though we didn't really need it, so no big deal). Overall, great experience and if we come back to NYC, we'd definitely consider staying again.

My husband and I recently stayed at Chelsea Pines Inn.What a great location and wonderful friendly ,helpful staff. My husband enjoyed running the length of the high line while I shopped and we shared many memorable meals together at night. Most of the restaurants were suggested by the hotel staff and were in a comfortable walking distance. The Inn requires one to use the stairs but after all our wonderful meals what better way to keep fit! The subway is just down the road and Chelsea markets just around the corner.

Wonderfully friendly staff, great location, excellent breakfast, room a little on the small side. My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in May and from the moment we arrived, till the time we left we were serviced by attentive and helpful staff who went out of their way to help and make (very good) recommendations. The location is ideal for getting up and down town, and is 200m from the subway, while the area itself is full of great shops, bars and restaurants. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Only a couple of slight negatives would be that our room was pretty small and the wifi was intermittent and didn't work in our room unless we were in the bathroom! Overall I would definitely recommend Chelsea Pines Inn and would go back...

Thanks so much for staying with us and taking the time to write, and for your kind comments regarding Chelsea Pines. I want to again apologize for any inconvenience due to the internet issues. The problems have been successfully addressed, as our tech people worked throughout the weekend to determine the cause of the problems, and to repair, replace and upgrade our wifi throughout the hotel. I can assure you that the problems you experienced have been completely resolved, and our wifi is working better and faster than ever, both in the guest rooms and all common areas.
Many thanks again for choosing us, and we will look forward to seeing you again when your travels bring you back to New York City.

The staff and the owner were very helpful with theatre bookings, and how to reach other places in NYC. The tube station is very close by, and Broadway, Times square, port authority are only 10 minutes away.
The breakfast was always excellent. Espresso, fresh fruit, cheeses, muffins, different types of bread, bagels, cereals and more. There is a pleasant garden room extension to the breakfast room.
Throughout the day and evening there was always free chocolate and fresh fruit at the front desk.
The room was very spacious, and the hotel was clean
I would gladly stay here again..

I agree with all the positive comments. The inn is delightful and the staff are devoted to making your stay a wonderful experience. You will have to climb stairs so be sure you are physically able. If you are, then you'll be treated to clean rooms, a fun ambiance, a delicious (included) breakfast with fresh espresso and home baked treats. Drinks and snacks are always available. There's a sweet garden out back. Go to NYC in order to stay here.

This hotel is a perfect location for exploring New York City. We are glad we didn't listen to all the people who told us to stay near Times Square, seeing it in the evenings going to and from shows was enough. Chelsea is a nicer neighbourhood, not nearly as crowded and the 14 St subway less than half block away means easy access to both Uptown and Downtown Manhattan. Nearby is the Chelsea Market, perfect for a quick bite, and High Line Park nice for an early evening stroll. Service at this boutique hotel was top notch, all the staff were friendly, helpful, and cheerful - they seem to actually enjoy their jobs. Only downside of our stay was problems with the hotel WiFi, so if that's critical for you you may want to check with hotel to see if they are still having problems

We stayed at Chelsea Pines over Easter (apologies for the delay in writing this review!) and found it the most perfect place to stay. The staff were so welcoming and friendly it made us feel right at home, and they were more than happy to give advice and help with booking events. We decided to book one of the larger rooms and got the Rock Hudson, which was spacious and nicely done out. The room was kept fastidiously clean by the cleaning staff, who were also very friendly. The position of the hotel is very good - there is a subway station within 30 seconds that gives easy access to the whole of Manhattan and beyond, but also many places are walkable and the great restaurants and shops of West Village are pretty much on the doorstep.

We got engaged whilst in NYC and after we mentioned it to the receptionist, we came back to our room the following day to find a box of artisan chocolate, roses and a lovely card from the staff. It was a lovely gesture and summed up the attitude of all the staff.

If you're planning on visiting NYC, you won't do any better than Chelsea Pines!
