“Great Service, Great Location, Upgrading!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My fiance and I really enjoyed our time here. The manager took especial care that we were able to see all of the sites we had come to see. He was very helpful and courteous throughout our stay. He always asked how our days were going and if we required anything. The Captain next door also took good care of us.

We did not get to stay in a renovated room, but we were given a sneak peak and it looked very well done! It had clean details and nice designs.

The hotel is in a great location for getting around. We were able to take the subway, Taxi's and even walk to all the places we wanted to visit in our 2nd stay in New York City.

We look forward to staying here again!

the best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. A few blocks walk to all the main attractions. The stairwells were grubby but the rooms were reasonably clean. The complimentary continental breakfast was excellent but if you prefer something hot check out Captains Table next door. Very good value for money. I believe that the hotel is undergoing a total refurbishment this year. I would use this hotel again as a budget option

We stayed here early January and would definitely recommend it. We booked then looked at the reviews.. I was worried by some of them but should not have worried at all. As long as you remember this is not the Ritz and it is also much better than other places we viewed.
The room was a triple at the rear of the hotel and was extremely good value. The bathroom was in good condition and the shower could be tricky but after using it twice we all got the hang of it.
The room was large and had a double and single bed with plenty of room. Also had the usual drawers, hanging space, TV, etc..The heating was good and always kept us and the room warm. A couple of nights we even left the bathroom window open and it was still warm and it was snowing outside!
The breakfast provided is more than sufficient which included cereals, bagels, fresh fruit salad, croissants, tea and coffee. The young lady in the breakfast room is so friendly and happy to assist. The breakfast room can fill up fast so would suggest an early visit or we even went down a little later and it was empty. You can take the food to your room if you preferred. There is also a little cafe attached to the hotel which offers hot breakfast (at a cost) and meals throughout the day to hotel guests and the public. Hotel guests get 10% off when show room key. The hot breakfasts were so cheap and looked good.
The staff were friendly and the rooms were well serviced with toiletries every day. We were also able to check in very early and store our luggage at no extra cost. The storage room was secure and I had no issue leaving our 5 bags here.
The location is also brilliant with Korea Town up the road with a huge selection of restaurants and also plenty of other food types around. The Empire State Building is not even a 5 minute walk away.
This is a good clean basic hotel close to so many of what NYC has to offer. I would stay here again and appreciate you spend most of your day out exploring and it is comfy and warm room to return to at night. The free wifi in room was also an added bonus.
The only issue I did have was the elevator can be extremely slow and was often quicker to take the stairs. Apart from that I would stay again.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the rear of hotel. No view but very quiet. Would also recommend lower level so can...

This is a good hotel in great location just around the corner from the Empire State building and within walking distance of loads of attractions. The rooms are very clean and basic but really good sizes - my sons' twin was huge. Yes the bathrooms are functional if dated - ours looked ancient but once we got the hang of the shower it was great. Bed very comfy and the maids keep the rooms spotless. Receptionists are very helpful and to have breakfast was great. We went on Christmas Day and at breakfast time could eat all we wanted - the girl on the breakfasts was very friendly. Get to breakfast early as not many tables there! We also liked it because compared to other NY hotels this was small in comparison. We did not hear any noise at night time but we were at the back so not sure what front rooms would be llike. You won't find luxury here but we all (including my 72 yr old mother) enjoyed our stay. Just one gripe - the hallways desperately need a coat of paint!

Room Tip: No noise at the back overlooking alley but also absolutely no view - fine for us. Rooms lovely and...

I have stayed in new york a few times. This hotel really is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. I didn't mind it because we weren't in the room much but it was terrible. The bathroom door was so small and the tub was about 7 inches deep so it's basically a shower. The elevator took forever. The stairs were incredibly creeky. It was extremely loud and freezing. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept on. I would not go back no matter what the price. I don't think the location was that great unless you're interested in seeing china town. I cannot recommend.

Room Tip: Don't stay on one of the rooms by the street

Nice hotel, small room with no outside view (alley) but still at a good price compared to other hotels in the area. personnel were nice and the hotel is conveniently located. very small passageways on the floors but it is a very old hotel.
I would return definively

This was our first visit to the city, the taxi took us straight to the hotel from JFK $60 in the rush hour. We were greeted by the friendly reception staff. The rooms are clean and tidy, the maids make a special effort every day, clean towels every day and I think our sheets were changed every 2 days. Our room was a bit noisy (804) but we were so tired from being out sightseeing all day that we could have slept on a pin!

The Empire State Building is 5 minutes walk. All attractions within easy reach including lots of choice of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops. Beware; you will put on weight!

The hotel has a small breakfast room which serves basic breakfast ie croissant, cereal, fruit, coffee etc and it gets very busy. We usually ate around 8am to get a seat but there is an adjoining cafe where you have to pay that is fine.

The hotel was lovely and warm, clean and basic but who spends time in a hotel room when there is so much to do in the city that never sleeps? No complaints from us and we would definitely stay there again if we ever visited in the future.
