We stayed here for five nights at the end of March/beginning of April. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The fact that this hotel is located on a small street in the financial district means that you can walk outside in the morning without a crush of people immediately upon you. However, it is very easy to walk to Broadway, Century 21or any of the subway lines (in less than five minutes) to experience the liveliness of the city you came for.
The rooms are very modern and clean. The bed is super comfortable and the bathrooms are really nice. The hotel is very welcoming and stylish. You must swipe your room card to use the elevator to which is a nice security feature.
We arrived early in the day and the hotel held our bags (free of charge -- I have been charged in NYC for this before up to $5 per bag!). The staff was always very helpful.
There is a daily charge for internet access in the rooms but super fast Wifi is free in the lobby.
The hotel in general is very peaceful, and being away from any major tourist attractions meant the streets were generally quiet at night. The only complaint we would have is that the walls are relatively thin. We could hear the guest in the next room coughing (constantly) and/or playing music for two of the days that we were there. They generally quieted down by 11pm -- that or we were so tired we just drifted off. : )
We would recommend staying here. Having visited NYC several times, the biggest "chore" or stress of the trip is finding a hotel and then hoping it stands up to what it said online. The Gild Hall delivered.
