“a wreck”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

staff friendly and to a extent the hotel is clean.
BUT the rooms are very small along with thw beds had to sleep with feet hanging over the edge. place in need of miatence power sockets exposed aircon falling apart. and because of kitchen for people to cook in it smells all the time as no ventalation. cheap good location but if i went again i would spend that little extra. as nothing in room except bed tv sink which is so close tyo the bed you bang ur head on it when you asleep not a fun place to stay or go back to to relax

“Cheap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

The location of this hotel was brilliant. right next to time square, 5 min walk to 5th ave, macy's, 1/2 way between Hell's Kitchen and East village and a very short walk to the subway.
The hotel had no wifi, but the Pret downstairs did.
The downfall was the overbearing smell of artificial airfreshener and what i can only describe as stale kebab, and the noise of the traffic outside, which if you invest in a pair of earplugs is bearable if you are trying to sleep in- but this is the nature of the location nd the fact that the windows are not double glazed..
The rooms are perfunctory and the shared bathrooom clean, with a few to choose from on the floor. The blanket was weird (what i can only describe as "waxed polyester)", but sandwiched between a cotton sheet and the bedspread, and only noticeable in the warmth it provided in, due to the weather, a relatively (but not unbearably) cold room.
The staff were friendly and non-intrusive. They were quite helpful when we wanted them.

Overall, for the price, it is a very good deal and i would recommend it to anyone travelling on a budget.

“Excellent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

The rooms in this place are very, very small. But this is New York, where one should spend little time sitting in your room anyways. There are shared bathrooms that were kept clean. I never had to wait to get in them. Outside was a little noisy. Great location -next to Times Square- and a reasonable price for Manhatten. Never had to use parking - good thing traffic is crazy. A short walk to the subways.

“Small, clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2012. We left it late to book a hotel for our 3 nights in ny & found it difficult to get a reasonable price hotel in and around Times Square.
Service was fine, had very little dealings with reception, but they were fine, no complaints. We had a double room with shared bathroom. I was very nervous about shared bathroom but it was very clean and I didn't see any1 else use it whilst I was in hotel. From looking around it seemed to be 1 bathroom to 2-3 rooms. The room was small, it had a tv, chest of drawers , wardrobe and a sink. For all the time you spend in it it's fine.
You can hear a lot of outside noise (mainly traffic ) I had no issues with it, but it maybe an idea to bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper .
Location was fantastic. Just a 5 minute walk to Times Square where you are in the middle of it all!

“As long as you know...it's great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay. It is more like an apartment building than a hotel. The rooms are very small but comfortable. Just a sink in each room, but they supply you with towels and soap. There are several large bathrooms on each floor that have a tub/shower and toilet combination. It is usually no problem getting a bathroom at any time of the day/night. If you don't mind a few steps to a bathroom down the hall, or maybe even right next to your room, this is a great place to stay. Have stayed here many times and would recommend if you don't need parking. Parking is right across the street but expensive. You will save enough to be glad you stayed here, even if you are unfamiliar with the shared bathroom thing. Try it...it's much better than you think and not really an inconvenience. Great location right down from Bryant Park, which is a wonderful place to take a seat, grab a beverage and watch the city unfold before you.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from 6th Ave to reduce the possible traffic noise.
