So, I suppose the staff were friendly enough, especially since I was dealing with the night crew. I had to wait 15 minutes to be checked in because the guys at the front desk were busy with something or other, but I just used the time to take advantage of the free wifi and ended up getting upgraded to the girls' room (from the coed room) for free. After being checked in, I carried my bag up to the second floor (no elevator) and went to the room to which I had been assigned. The girls inside were already asleep, which was a real bummer, since this was my first real experience in a hostel and I was hoping to make the most of it. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the blanket provided was insufficient for how cold it was in the room; I didn't sleep much at all that night. The bathroom is SUPER TINY! The shower I had was alright, but not really the cleanest... Checkout was easy and the subway into times square is only a few minutes walk. Overall, it wasn't what I had hoped it would be, but it was a place to (kinda) sleep and get a basic shower. I will probably try somewhere else next time.
