“My Favorite hotel in NY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This is the NY in a hotel.
A young and very very NY style hotel.

People are cool, rooms are cool, atmosphere is great!

If you are a 30 year old self-made open person, and you want an hotel in the same style of the city with a really experience... This is the hotel that you have to try.

I LOVE ACE!

Ps; great hotel team too!!!

Room Tip: Small rooms are really small! Check the official website , great deals there too!

We originally booked a mini room at Ace Hotel prior to our stay and when we arrived on Christmas eve, we completely missed the check in counter cause it looks too cool to be one! We checked in and the dude behind the counter, asked us if we would like to upgrade for a small fee and gave us his favorite room at the hotel on the 12th Floor. When we stepped in, the room was amazing, with a couch, a record player, ample space and the view opens up to the Empire State building! Amazing! We had a great 2 days here and the location is perfect as well, not as busy as the hotels on Times Square. You have to stay here even for a day, just to experience the unique hospitality of this hotel. And not too forget, when we couldn't get a cab, and it was raining dreadfully outside, the helpful front desk staff just grabbed his umbrella ran outside and got us a cab. I would definitely like to return for another stay sometime.

Room Tip: Room on the 12th floor, Medium room with a view of the Empire State building

Booked two nights here for a weekend getaway in NYC for my girlfriend and I. I had heard great things about this hotel online, it was represented as a hip and interesting place to stay. It is hip and it is interesting but it falls short at being a good hotel. The service at the hotel just stinks. They had my reservation set for the wrong room type, we were there for two nights and on the 2nd day I got a call saying that we needed to check out and there were still things in our room... it took them 20min to figure out that we were actually supposed to be there for another night.

The staff was also just not gracious, which is a total bummer. This hotel holds so much potential, but their staff is just falling short...

Dear mkarolian:
Thank you for letting us know your thoughts about your recent visit. We looked into this matter immediately and were able to determine the following:

Each of your 2 nights with Ace were booked under 2 different reservations through a 3rd party booking agent. We apologize that the connection of your two reservations was missed by our staff and led to the confusion in the middle of your stay. We understand your frustration and I assure you this circumstance was an exception. We Absolutely think that the Great Things you heard about Ace are all true. The bar is set really high for us and the Golden Rule always applies:
“One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself”
We hope you will visit us again and will contact you directly to see if you will consider this.
Warm regards,
Lisa Conza

Surprisingly spacious, creatively decorated rooms. Most of the rooms in this level hotel could better be described as kennels--but not at the Ace Hotel. Plenty of room to spread out. Forget Starbucks--the coffee shop (Stumptown) is fabulous and won't disappoint. The large lobby is dimly lit, and quite happening, maybe just a little TOO happening. I'm not a hipster, but if you enjoy that vibe, this is your place. The only negative is that the hotel could really use a concierge service--currently, the front desk handles everything. That wouldn't have been a problem if they had made decent recommendations. We stayed in room 1026--very quiet. I'd stay there again, but now I know I need to get direction on restaurants myself.

If you are looking for the kind of hotel where you will be a bit surprised, find what you see to be slightly askew, where there is a discipline to the tongue-in-cheek hipness of the experience, than I would visit the Ace Hotel. I had a one-night stay, the week of 1/7, and really enjoyed the experience. The lobby-bar was lively and relaxed, the drinks were great and the people all seemed to be enjoying themselves. My room was equally entertaining--with many of the accoutrements very "low tech" even the desk pen was actually a pencil. The signage was all witty and entertaining, while still conveying the key message. This hotel is a fun place to stay when you want relax and poke fun at pretense, even your own.

Where do I begin! this would have to be one of the most amazing hotels in the world! The staff are friendly attentive and actually seem to want to be there. The location is amazing and the view of the empire state building was like waking up in a dream.

Great coffee and a really nice mini bar both at a good price. I will be back in the next few months cant wait to stay again!

ACE is an unique, authentic experience which continues to exceed my expectations. I've stayed at ACE a couple of times in 2012 and each time has been "wowed" by the property, the rooms, the staff, from check-in to check-out. The lobby is a great hang-out for a cocktail. The rooms are interesting, unique, clean and cool. The staff is very helpful.
