“Another amazing stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2009

Just returned from our 4th stay in GV Habitue. Another amazing stay! Kevin and Matthew were once again amazing hosts. Despite arriving late, Kevin gave us such a warm welcome. He had looked out a few articles for us and remembered what we liked. What amazing service. My brother and sister-in law also stayed and the week before us and it allowed us to have a weekend with them in New York. Staying there made their stay. It is such an amazing place with a perfect location and such wonderful hosts. I cannot recommend it enough!

My wife and I stayed once again in one of the studio apartments in this building on Horatio Street. We're both from NY and like to go to visit and take in the theater and music on offer. These apartments are more roomy than a hotel room, and have a small kitchen so you can have breakfast or reheat something left over from dinner the night before, etc. Kevin and Matt are very friendly and unobtrusive hosts, and the location is perfect for everything you might want to do - lots of easily walkable restaurants in every price range - the beautiful riverside park is 2 blocks away - and the new High Line Park is right there also, if you want to escape into a unique urban pedestrian environment. It's a couple of blocks from 3 subway lines, to get uptown and downtown from Battery Park to the Upper West Side - or across to the east side at 14th St to connect to east side subways. So we love staying here. WIth Greenwich Village right there and the now-hip Meatpackers District of clubs and restaurants just to the north (happily out of earshot), and the amazing Chelsea Market a few blocks north (yum), this is the most interesting place to stay in Manhattan. We've been back, and we'll be back again. Book well in advance, as the price is like that of a low to mid range NY hotel.

Having previously lived in the West Village I felt really blessed to be able to come back and stay in the area. The owners were fantastic and the apartment was exactly what we were looking for. If you want the real NY experience then nothing can beat staying in an apartment close to both the West Village and the Meat Packing district. I would definitely come back.

We stayed here on our 2nd trip to NewYork on our honeymoon. We stayed in the Hilton,Times Square for 2 nights then here for 5. The location is perfect. The host are fantastic, the apartment is excellent. 30 secounds from the meat packing district, with very trendy bars and restuarants(where sex and the city was filmed) . Go to the Galvernoot Hotel, q for the breathtaking rooftop bar. We have stayed here since with our friends and they loved it too

Matt, Kevin, and Ray were most accomodating and very friendly guys. We choose this location based on other reviews and were extremely happy with our choice. The building is unique, and located on a quiet, beautiful street. It is within walking distance of Bleecker Steet, and all the great restaurants, coffee and pastry shops within the area. Also within walking distance of the Meat Packing District. Subway is very close too. We are looking forward to our next stay.

Must dine at Fish, Home, Palma, and Moustache. All in the Bleecker Street area. Also a must is the Grounded Coffee shop on Jane Street.

We have had the good fortune to stay with Matthew and Kevin 3 times in the last 18 months. When visiting NYC, going back to A Greenwich Village Habitue is like going home. In a fabulous West Village/Meatpacking District neighbourhood, the quiet location at -- Horatio Street offers welcome respite from the faster pace uptown, which is only a $10 taxi ride away. There are many wonderful restaurants in walking distance from the apartment, our favourites being Cafe Cluny and Bus Stop. The clean and comfortable apartments in this original brownstone building are spacious and very tastefully decorated with sumptuous leather lounges and interesting original artworks. Each apartment includes a double bed, lounge room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom and offer great amenity and value, especially compared with hotel rooms. In April we stayed in one facing the garden and went to sleep with the sound of the owl and woke to the chirping of birds! But what is really special is the wonderful welcome we receive from Matthew and Kevin every time. When staying in NYC, this is the only place for us.

i stayed in gv habitue in a first floor apartment the week before christmas, leaving on christmas eve. the visit was superb, and kevin and matt are marvelous hosts: very helpful , friendly and gracious in a nicely balanced way with privacy. the apartment was just lovely: spacious yet cozy, very clean, and very well appointed... wonderfuland comfortable.
the guesthouse is just down the street from the great park and promenade on the hudson river, and close to public transportaion, and the livelier sections of the village. a terrific location! without a doubt this is one of the best places i have stayed in my many visits to new york.
