“A wedding to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

My husband and I have just arrived home from our wedding/ honeymoon in NYC. We chose the Strand for it's central location, beautiful pictures and fantastic reviews and it definitely lived up to all of our expectations.

When we arrived we were greeted in the stunning lobby by well presented, extremely friendly staff. Our room, well what can we say, perfect size room, beautiful decor, giant bed, wonderful bathroom and a view to die for. We were in a room at the front of the building on 15th floor.

When the hotel staff found out we were getting married a beautiful bottle of wine was left in the room along with a lovely card from the manager. Although everyone went above and beyond at every occasion we want to give a big thanks to Dion at the front desk who stopped to chat about our wedding and time in New York and did everything he could to make our stay unforgettable.

The location is right in the centre of everything! A 2 minute walk gets you to Macy's, The Empire State Building, The NY Central Library, Bryant Park. Bryant Park was our particular favourite. We totally recommend getting a slice of pizza from one of the many pizzeria's and taking it to the park to enjoy in the sunshine, and watch the world go by.

This was the trip of a life time and The Strand Hotel and it's staff were a big part of that. We will definitely return and strongly recommend the hotel to friends.

Thanks

Joanne and Robin MacDonald

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have a fantastic view of the Empire State

We stayed at The Strand for seven nights and had a fantastic experience. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. Loved the sheets! Our only complaint was that there was no coffee maker in the room. We were told at check out that we could have requested one but were never told that at check in. There should be a sign in the room stating that, or because of space, I would put the box of Kleenex on the nightstand with the clock and put a small coffee maker on the other night stand. We were there with four other couples and they agree. The hotel was in walking distance to the Empire State Building, Time Square, Macy's, the subway and so much more. We felt safe anytime of the day walking back and forth. The staff was amazing. They were all so helpful and friendly. The two that stand out the most are Ingrid and Jonathan. Ingrid is the loveliest young woman we have met in a long time. Your hotel is exceptionally lucky to have her working there. She made us feel welcomed and honored to be guests. Jonathan made us feel the same way. They both made our stay feel very personalized. We feel like we've made new friends. The two of them alone would make us stay at your hotel again. All in all, our stay was really perfect. Thank you for making our first trip to NYC so memorable.

This hotel was in a central location close to shopping and great pubs. Safe location, clean and comfortable. Restaurant in lobby has amazing food with great service. Bar on roof top has a beautiful view with gorgeous view of the Empire State Building. Music and bar staff nice too.

My boyfriend and I are currently staying at The Strand, and we love it.
The location is great, we can walk to the Empire State building, Macy's, Times Square and several other interesting sites in under 10 min.
The hotell is also very beuatifull, tastefully decorated and very clean. The towells are soft and thick, and the bed is large and with very good quality sheets.

We read that the front facing rooms would have the best view, but we have a back-facing one, and we think the view from here is great as well, the only thing lacking is the view of the Empire State building, but we can see that from the very nice roof top bar.
We live on the 19th floor, and have no problems with sounds from outside, and we have the window open at all times.

The staff has been very welcoming and helpfull, and we will definetly recommend The Strand to others visiting New York!

We are sad to leav in 2 days, and hope to come back soon.

I sourced this lovely hotel myself and I am delighted that I did. I stayed here with my son for 7 nights. We had an amazing stay. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful, this continued throughout our stay. The website matched everything it said about the hotel. We had a fab twin room looking straight on to the Empire State State Building. The room was a good size, just right for our stay. I liked the fact that whenever we returned from our day out the room had been serviced, we never once had to come out of our rooms or wait until it had been cleaned. A very big plus as some hotels I have stayed in don't clean the rooms until late afternoon. I need to comment on air conditioning as one reviewer complained how noisy this was. I have to say we did not have a problem with this, yes it made a noise but what air con doesn't ?

The bar and restaurant area are beautiful, relaxing and very comfortable. We ate breakfast here most days and also had room service a couple of times. Compliments to the chef the food was first class. Compared to some places the prices were very reasonable too. The Rooftop bar is breathtaking, It has a great atmosphere as well as terrific views, great place to relax after all our sightseeing and shopping.

We also used the Gym which was well equipped and very clean. Good to have the option of this facility.

The hotel offers a great concierge facility which saved me queuing time. I had a little hiccup with one show and have to praise Sal for giving my feedback to Manager John who quickly had this looked into and resolved; big thank you for the time Ash gave me on this. Compliments to concierge Laura who mainly dealt with our requests and was such a bubbly and friendly young lady.

The hotel is in a great location, street is quiet at night. Within walking distance to main shops and Times Square. Very beautiful Boutique Hotel. It was a great find. A hotel which makes you feel valued as a guest no matter who you are, a rare find the days.

The Strand is a fantastic hotel which has the convenience of being close to the heart of New York City yet the charm of being shielded from the hussle and bustle. The boutique restaurant has a unique menu and is delicious! For after hours snacks, there's a Blacksmith located across the road which has lots of variety. Staff were always friendly. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. And the ROOF TOP PARTY on New Year's Eve was one of the best New Years I've ever had!

We enjoyed our stay there so much, we extended our original booking by another week.

Centrally located with near-immediate access to virtually all of Manhattan. Style and an excellent sense of aesthetics permeates this gem of a hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, and the service most attentive. We'll definitely return on our next visit!
