Clean, friendly and helpful. Rooms cleaned daily and towels changed. Toileteries provided. Do not book a taxi to the airport via the hotel stall, you'll be paying 4x more. there are buses run by go who do drop and pick up from about $22, NJ or NYC.

The Marrakech hotel looks suspicious when you enter, it has no elevator and some carpeted narrow stairs that are not very welcoming. However, the room I got was nice.
I had a big room in the second floor, with zero views (also without street noise, so that's a plus), and not a lot of light.
The bed was really big, comfortable, there was a good desk for working and a big bathroom. It also had a new tv on the wall.
The wifi was not bad, and when it failed, there is a Starbucks just under so you can just pick that one up and works well.
The price I paid was half the price they offered me when I contacted them, so check online before booking a room.
It is close to a Subway station and close to Columbia, and, as I said, the Starbucks is just below.
In the reception they have several people, all very nice, and they also have some dubious music playing (it was Pitbull most of the time), but I never heard it on the room.

Excellent hotel. It was clean and tidy the staff were friendly and there is a subway outside which takes you into Times Square or the ferry for Statue of Liberty. Only issue I had was that due to the building being old and the way they were set out there isn't a lift so expect some extra exercise. But if you have done loads of shopping then tip the staff and they will take for you up to the room. Receptionist helped with questions, guides and airport transfers. Read the reviews but would def recommend this place to my friends

Hey Steven F,

Thank you for your review! Due to being a landmark building built in the 1900's we unfortunately do not have elevators but our wonderful bellman staff is available to help you with anything you need to carry up to your room 24 hours a day. Its great to hear that our staff was accommodating to you we hope that you will visit us again in the near future.

Best wishes,

Cannot fault the staff, they were very friendly and gave us maps and activities guides to help and offered their assistance. Always welcomed you with a 'hello' or 'have a nice day'. My hairdryer didn't work but the staff were more than happy to lend me one of theirs. We needed to ring our transfer company and the gentleman behind the desk let us use their phone free of charge!

Location is great, has every shop you'd need around it and is literally less than 100m to the subway station.

The rooms are small but cannot complain. One thing is that the shower temperature does not stay constant, it kept changing from boiling to hot to freezing. Yes the rooms to get got very quickly but nothing the AC can't sort, it is noisy but we got used to it. The maid always cleaned the room very well and left clean bedding and towels and toiletries every day.

Overall, I would rate this hotel to anyone, very friendly and homely hotel. I wouldn't have any problems booking here again.

This hotel is probably the best hotel i've stayed at in New York. This was my 4th time to my favourite city and this hotel made it amazing for me and my friends.
The staff are so friendly, always welcoming you and asking how your day was when you arrive home and wishing you a great day as you leave...nothing is a trouble for them!
The hotel is very clean and beautifully decorated! It has a hotel bar which is open every night with chatty staff (just make sure you tip!)
Rooms cleaned daily to a great standard!
There is a subway entrance right outside which takes you directly to the most touristy places (34th Street, Times Square, 5th Ave and the Statue of Liberty)
Would recommend this hotel to couples, friends, family or if your alone!!!
Thanks guys for everything :) We will defiantly be returning!!!!

I have read the other reviews posted about this hotel and can understand where the reviewers are coming from, however I would like to redress the balance and say what a lovely boutique hotel this is - a little taste of Morocco amongst the skyscrapers of the Big Apple.

We booked this hotel for a 4 night/5 day stay in New York at the end of May. We wanted something cheap but centrally located and whilst the kerbside appeal is definitely uninspirational and would give the Hotel Inspector plenty to talk about, the hotel itself is good value for money and fulfilled our criteria.

Granted there are no lifts in this five storey building and the stairs are a little daunting when you first arrive but we had barely paused outside on our first afternoon when a bellboy appeared to cart our suitcases upstairs for us and deliver them to our rooms. There were five of us in our party so we had previously booked a double room (small but adequate with a non existent brick wall view) and a double double room (larger and situated at the front with a lovely view of the quiet road). Admittedly the rooms are very small and lack good wardrobe space, but the beds are comfortable and the pillows are to die for. As I lay my weary head down each night sleep was instantaneous as I enjoyed the feeling of sleeping on a puff of cloud - bliss after a long day of walking ourselves ragged. Unfortunately there were no tea/coffee making facilities available in the room but there is a Starbucks next door so this was no hardship as we quickly established a routine of falling out of bed each morning and going downstairs in our PJs for morning coffee!

The hotel is decorated in a quirky Moroccan style with bright colours and mosaic features. Atmospheric music greets each visitor on their return each evening and the small bar was host to several small groups quenching their thirst before bedtime. Essentially what the hotel lacks in amenities is more than made up for by the friendly and helpful staff, and the wonderful atmosphere that greeted us each time we returned to the hotel. You were given the impression that you were a valued customer and nothing at all was too much trouble, advice was quickly given and help was always at hand whether it was for directions or assistance with ticket arrangements.

Finally the locality of the hotel is well worth a mention as it is tucked in a safe, leafy, pretty part of Broadway stuffed with eateries and only 15 minutes walk away from Central Park with a subway conveniently on the pavement outside. In summary whilst the hotel may not have had all the facilities other larger brands can offer, it was exactly right for our requirements - why do you need more when there is so much to do in New York that the hotel is only ever going to be a place to lay your head after an action packed, feet busting day? We loved our stay at the Marrakech and would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who thinks the main attraction is the city itself and requires no more than a cheap, no frills stay. Big up the Big Apple - we had an AMAZING TIME!!!!!

Don't even think about staying here!!! Steer clear! Small stinky rooms, literally size of a closet, small window which needed to be shut by blinds all the time because it was facing the next building windows at the distance of about 2 yards. Bathroom is so small that I had to keep the bathroom door open in order to be able to sit on the toilet. Room gets extremely hot very quickly so I had to run the window AC unit all the time and it was so noisy that I could barely hear the tv sound. They definetely created the third world country experience.
The last straw was at the end, when I checked out, they offered to call a taxi for me. I thought, well, that's a nice service. But man, I was wrong. They charged $58 for the ride to LaGuardia whereas the regular rate (as I found out later) is no more than $35-37. The driver tried to charge me $5 on top of this - there is definetely some kind of scam going on there. So just refuse if they offer to "call taxi" for you. Use Uber!
