We had a great experience at the Thompson LES in April 2013. The complimentary upgrade to a Junior King Suite when we arrived was a pretty decent start. But in general the staff at the front desk and concierge were super helpful and good fun. I requested a room that would be quiet because we planned on getting some good sleep and they took that into account.
The hotel is compact, the room was a great size for NYC and the neighbourhood rocks. It's literally steps from places like Katz Deli and Russ and Daughters so you can't go wrong. The pool wasn't open when we were there because of the time of the year but I'd love to go back when it is.
I had checked out pretty much every decent hotel in Soho in LES before choosing the Thompson and I'm pretty happy that I did. Relatively good value and a lovely place to stay.
