“Typical NY?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

Stayed at the Warwick with my wife and daughter for three nights in a two room suite. Everything about our stay was great was excellent (accomadations, housekeeping, room service) with the exception of two items. The front desk staff seemed like they didn't want to be bothered and the elevator service, which at times seemed to be nonexistent. When checking out, we might still be on the 8th floor waiting for an elevator had someone on the housekeeping not showed us to the freight elevator.

I stayed at the Warwick New York for two nights over a long weekend with my fiance. I got a great rate of $170/night using Priceline's Name Your Own Price option. I think it normally goes for about $230/night. The first person we encountered at the Warwick was the person behind the check-in counter, and he was extremely friendly, and funny! Our room wasn't ready but they took our bags and held them in back so we could go sightseeing.

When we went back a few hours later, we got our bags and went upstairs. We got a room on the 16th floor; it was a corner room - plus! However, beware of the elevators: if you are claustrophic, take the stairs! They are very small and probably can only fit about 4 or 5 people comfortably.

The room was a good size and the bed was so comfy! We both slept amazingly well. The only thing that wasn't so great was the bathroom size - I felt like I was back in Europe, it was so small - and there was no full-length mirror.

We went to the hotel bar one night for a couple drinks, and yes, they are pricey. My fiance got a specialty cocktail for $15 and all the beers were $10. The chick next to us was drinking a Budweiser (for $10?!) while I got a Blue Moon for the same price. Not sure who would pick a Bud! Regardless, it has a very loungy feel and the servers were attentive.

I would absolutely stay here next time, and in fact, it was such a great stay that if I didn't have a Priceline/Hotwire option, I would actually pay full price through the hotel. Oh - and you can't beat the location. A few blocks south of Central Park; a few blocks north of Times Square.

After many hours of research, my sister and I decided to stay at the Warwick. We couldn't have made a better choice! We got a great rate using the link provided under the hotel name on tripadvisor. We arrived early and the concierge gladly held our bags until our room was ready at noon (3 hours before normal check in). We stayed in a premier room with a nice view, even though we were on a low floor. The room was clean and comfortable. Our friends stayed in a premier suite and it was amazing. The internet pictures do not do it justice. Bring back a bottle of water when you are done for the day because ice and vending machines are not on every floor. I highly recommend Pazza Notte, an Italian restaurant less than a block away. They have 2 for 1 martinis and delicious lasagna. In summary, I cannot say enough about the service. Service excellent - Location excellent - Price excellent! I will definitely stay here again.

Just returned from a four- night stay at the Warwick in New York. We chose to stay there after a pleasant experience in 2009. This time, we had our kids (20 and 23) with us and we were eager to have them enjoy this hotel. The positives for this place are: very clean, friendly staff, close to many attractions, and fascinating history. We were told by a cabbie that this hotel is the best place in the area for the money- the Hilton, right across the street charges double, apparently! The rooms are very comfortable and we all slept very well on those comfy beds!
Another advantage is Klein's market is right up the street and you can save money on breakfast and lunch by buying food there.
The negatives for the hotel are: no free WIFI, needing to rent a fridge for $9 rather than having one provided free of charge, outrageously priced phone calls
( long distance came to $18!) the restaurant is wayyy overpriced- only ate there once. My son was unhappy he couldn't hook up his laptop to the TV like he had a motel in Detroit just days before.
Despite all this, we would stay there again and recommend it to others.

I stayed here as a result of the Bryant Park cancelling my reservation (see separate review). Thankfully, I managed to get in here (by then I was just craving a room with a bed) but the guys at reception did an excellent job of booking me in at short notice in a decent sized room with 2 double beds. The hotel has an old-style charm - being built by Randolph Hearst and having had guests such as cary Grant in residence in the hotel's heyday. My room on the 19th floor was large, quiet and just the right temperature (NY hit 30 degrees over that week). The bathroom was a good size, and the shower was spot on. Breakfast was good with fast attentive service and the bar - Randolph's - was a decent place to have a quiet drink and a snack.
