“The Worst Experience!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Where do I begin? First of all when we got to NYC, the parking garage for this hotel was full so we had to find another one two blocks away, which meant we had to carry our luggage through the busy New York streets.
Then we waited 1/2 hour to check in because they only had 1 person working the desk and we could barely hear because the bar is right next to reception with no separation between the two and the music was so loud!
Then we got to our room which was pretty gross...the carpet was worn and stained, the shower had black mold, the thermostat did not work (could only turn on the air not heat), I questioned how much cleaning the maids actually do, and the wifi is not free (they charge over $10 for 24hrs)!
The first night there we did not get in until late and we slept fine but the second night we stayed we wanted to get to sleep early so we could get up early and enjoy our last day in the city, but we could not sleep because our room was directly above the bar & the music was so loud we could hear every word the DJ said. We went downstairs around 1am and spoke to one of the security guard/bouncers at the door of the bar and asked him to have them turn it down. Nothing happened. So, at about 2 am we called the front desk and complained to them about the volume of the music and again they did nothing! We were finally able to fall asleep at around 3am, which was due to exhaustion and not the fact that the music stopped or was turned down.
When we went to check out the next day we asked to speak to the Manager, we explained that we did not think we should have to pay for our 2nd night due to the fact that we could not sleep because of their bar and the music. She told us to leave our phone number and email and that the general manager would contact us about a refund once she came in. It has been two days and we still have not heard from anyone at this hotel! The one and only good thing about this hotel is location but that is not even worth it! We will never recommend or stay at this hotel ever again! This made our first visit to New York a very disappointing one!
If you chose to stay here...GOOD LUCK. Just make sure you bring flip flops for the shower, slippers to walk on the carpet, and earplugs if you are on the 3rd floor (directly above the 2nd floor where the bar is located). The pictures on these sites are nothing like how the hotel actually looks, don't be deceived! Anyone who responds with good comments about this hotel other than location is lying and probably works for the hotel!

Room Tip: Don't stay here if you don't have to but if you do...don't get a room anywhere near the...

Great location just of Times Square and broadway. Off the Main Street which is ideal with a boutique feel. Rooms a little dated now and could do with a freshen up. Good service and helpful staff. Room was cleaned regularly. Ask for a high level room.

Thank you for staying with us at The Time and for your review. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed our Times Square location and found our service team helpful.

As far as our rooms, we will be undergoing a major renovation starting January 2015, which will more than freshen up our appearance. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back once they're complete! Please feel free to reach out to me directly for any future bookings.

We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary. We wanted to be in the center of all the main attractions in the city. Times Square, Central Park, Saint Patrick's Cathedral, and the New York Public Library were among the places that were walking distance from The Time. From the moment we walked into the hotel's main floor, we were greeted by their staff and directed to where the check in counter was. For a city like New York where everyone's busy, their staff actually took the time to welcome us, and give us some tips on places to visit. During our stay, the hotel was also hosting the auditions to the reality TV show, Master Chef, a sign that they want to do something special for their guests all the time. We highly recommend The Time to anyone that wants to have an enjoyable stay in The Big Apple.

Late in writing review! We stayed in January this year and it was such a good find! Perfect location! I don't think you could get a better location! Right next to 'The Book of Mormon' which I would highly recommend!

Staff were lovely and helpful, happy to deal with any request or advice. Was expecting small room after reading reviews, but it was more than big enough! Our towel rail fell off the wall so told reception, was fixed by the time we got back to our room that afternoon!

Would definitely stay again and have already recommended to family who are now planning on staying there!

Loved it!

The location is the best you can get but don't stay here, the rooms are horrible. There were scuff marks everywhere, paint chipping and the furniture was old and looked like something that was picked up at good will. Carpet was old and warn and looked dirty all the time. The bathroom had drip stains all over the ceiling. We were given a tiny corner room that was noticeably smaller than any other we looked in and didn't have a dresser. Hotel pictures show a padded chair in the type of room we booked. I would dare someone to try to fit a chair in that room it was so small. There was an office chair and a desk but you had to get out of the chair and push it in for someone to walk by. Front staff was great and so is the location but that's about it.

I wish I hadn't paid everything upfront through a 3rd part so we could have made accommodations someplace else.

I would not recommend staying here until may 2015 after the renovations take place.

We booked this hotel in February for my husbands 50th birthday as this is such a great location so near Times Square. We were more than happy with the hotel and the excellent service we received. I was a little worried on reading some review's on here but I can safely say that we had a great experience. The room was large, plasma T.V and the bed was so comfy just what is needed after a days of sightseeing!! The location is just great for first time visitors!! All the staff were extremely nice and more than helpful.
We will be going back to NYC and we will be staying at The Time Hotel.
