As this speicific weekend in NYC we were planning on visiting the Metropolitan Museum and spend time with the grandchildren in Central Park, our choice was The Mark on the upper east side instead of a hotel in midtown. We did not regret it, although there was some more street noise to put up with because of some road work on Madison. I don't think a room on a higher floor would have helped in this case. Very friendly saff, comfortable rooms and bathrooms. We had dinner and lunch several times at Jean Georges restaurant, besides breakfast. Good service, excellent food, we were never dissappointed. Only detail, strange for us, at the bar they do not serve alcoholic drinks before 12am on Sundays! As we did not want to wait 15' for a drink, a tonic water without gin did the job. We will certainly return.
