“Great location, superb value, attentive service, decent accommodations.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I stayed at the Larchmont (standard room) for two nights while exploring the Village over a weekend. Check-in was polite and efficient. I was surprised to have someone take my luggage up to my room and give me a tour of the hotel as well; the latter in particular seems to be forgotten even by some five-star properties these days. Service was excellent throughout my stay; I never met an employee who wasn’t polite and accommodating. Security is quite good with a 24-hour desk clerk and three keys needed to access your room (front door, hall door, room door).

The room had everything I needed and was admittedly a little small but anyone who comes to New York from out of town knows you don't travel here to spend time indoors. Mine lacked a closet and drawers for clothes but that really didn’t make a difference as there was adequate hanger space and my suitcase sufficed for storage. Noise level was fine and sleep quality is good as the hotel is located on a fairly calm street. Bathrooms/showers are outside of the rooms but I never had a problem with accessing these. There is a small but adequate breakfast buffet downstairs in the morning.

The real benefits of this place are the location and value. You are just a few blocks from Washington Square Park and its associated circus performers and minutes away from numerous restaurants (Gotham Bar and Grill, Blue Hill, etc.) and shops in the area. Greenwich Village is all about walking around and seeing what unfolds in front of you and this is a great platform for jumping into the fray so to speak. And the cost? I could spend a week here for one night at the Plaza. Both (Plaza and Larchmont) are admittedly different experiences but fit on the same continuum of seeing what NYC is all about.

Overall I had a very pleasant stay here and look forward to multiple future visits. The management really have maximized the capabilities of the staff and surroundings without stretching the personnel too thin or (even worse) making the hotel seem like something it's not. Thumbs up!

If you can get over the shared bathroom, this place has it all: courteous, helpful, funny staff; superb location; spic and span-ness; and get this: no bedbugs! at least not in my bed. the best thing of course (with that platform of cleanliness established) is where it finds itself, right in the heart of the leafy, elegant west village, just off 5th Ave. And by the way: even though the hotel was full both nights I was there, I never had to wait to get into the bathroom. Luck? I don't know.

Room Tip: I chose a room overlooking a sort of courtyard, but next time I'm going to choose the street sin...

Nesstled amoung the brownstones in the West Village of New York City stanbs, most assuradely, the best kept secret in the entire City of New York.

The Larchmont Hotel is five stories higf and has an east and west wing with about seven rooms to each wing. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. their is a sink in every room, but there is not a bathroom or Shower in every room. The toilet and shower are located in the hallways of each wing of the hotel. The bathroom and shower facilities are made for one person at a time and your privacy is completely protected.

The Hotel is kept in immaculate shape and when you exit the main door you are thrown back to late 19th century New York on W. 11 St. Located between 5th. and 6th. Avenues on W. 11th, few feet away towards 6th Ave. is the New School, and once you come upon either 5th. or 6th. Ave. you are in the midst of the West Village. DO NOT miss a breackfast, lunch, or dinner at the French Roast Cafe on the corner of w.11th. and 6th. Ave. Yum-Yum!

Now for the real deal, it's only $99.00 to $129 a night depending on the size of the room you choose or the day you stay! What a deal!

No more $400.00 a night holets in NYC for me. The Larchmont will do just fine! Slippers and bathrobes are supplied too, for you short walk to the shower or toilet! Each wing has a kitchen for you to cook a meal or make coffee. Toiletries are provided in a neat carry-all bag and there are plenty of clean towels!

Cabs are readily available as you exit the front door onto 11th Ave. Subways and buses are on the corner 6th. Ave.

There is a website for reservations. I swear by this hotel when I am in the City. Oh, and they will print out your boarding passes for you at the front desk for your return flights!

Room Tip: I like the regual room with a full bed for one, a queen for two!

The Larchmont is typical of a hotel you would find in Europe. Small rooms with most rooms having shared baths. If you are used to that, then the hotel is perfect. It's on a quiet street in the west side of Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan. Easy walk to the 14th St. subway station that will zip you either uptown or downtown towards Brooklyn. We walked about .9 miles to the High Line urban park; definitely worth a visit. The breakfast is just toast, small pastries, coffee & juice, but the French Roast Restaurant is 1/2 block away if you need a full meal. I'd like to see them add some fruit & cereal to the breakfast, however, it's still a great value for NYC.

Very nice hotel for a good price. We stayed on 6th floor. The room was small but clean and quiet. There's no bed bugs. The room comes with a TV, telephone, ceiling fan, air conditioner, hair-dryer & washbasin. There is a shared bathroom, shower and toilet in the hall. Location is very good in Manhattan.

Great location in a quiet residential neighborhood in The Village. The shared bathroom is kept very clean. The shower has a strange design - it is in the middle of the bathtub. The bathrobe and bathroom slippers in the room are a nice touch. Breakfast is included, but very basic, and not too interesting for the health conscious. Great service. Good value.

spent this past week in one of the family rooms (back of hotel) Private (very clean modern) washroom included. While room was not large it was very quiet both daytime and evening and clean. Staff attentive to our needs. Location a huge plus. For coffee aficionados - joes two blocks away. I will return
