“Great, affordable place to stay in NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Newton for marathon weekend. We arrived at noon and they held our bags, apologizing that our room wasn't ready. We were fine with that, having no expectation that our room would be ready that early. We came back later that afternoon and they remembered me by name, even though the hotel was full and they were quite busy. We ended up with an upgraded room, which was up to date and well appointed. The bathroom was small, but quite acceptable. The refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker were nice touches. Parking was no problem as they directed me to the Hertz lot around the corner, where I parked for the hotel discounted rate of $27/night. That seems quite reasonable for NYC. The beds were comfortable and housekeeping kept the room quite clean. We even noticed that they reset the clocks for us after DST ended. There was some noise from the street, but that is to be expected in Manhattan. The 96th Street subway station is a block away, making it very convenient to midtown and lower Manhattan. We found all of the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful. Considering NYC hotel prices, we found the Hotel Newton to be a very good value.

I've had the chance to travel to NYC many times in the past 4 years and have truly enjoyed staying at the Hotel Newton. The location is fabulous...Upper West Side right at the 96th st subway stop. Just next door to the hotel is one of our favorite diners in the city for breakfast, the Manhattan Diner. The Hotel Newton is always clean, comfortable, quiet and a wonderful place to relax after long days of exploring the city. Great value and wonderful employees. Easy parking just around the corner too! Have come here many times and will continue to do so in the future.

Had a four night stay and couldn't fault it. We had a double deluxe for 3 of us and had plenty of room and the beds were so comfy! The bathroom was on the small side but still adequate. Fridge and microwave a bonus. There was some street noise at night but this was solved with earplugs and this is New York!! The subway was across the road and a 10 min walk gets you to Central Park. Next door is the fabulous Manhattan Diner which is so reasonable and the food is yummy. This is a brilliant location and staff helpful when we asked for information. Would definitely return.

This is a great, "cheap" hotel to stay in for a trip to NYC. It's conveniently located right by the 2/3 train. The room was clean and spacious. I loved that there was a microwave, refrigerator, and coffeemaker in the room. The front desk staff is wonderful. Especially Kari, who greeted us upon our arrival and went out of her way to make sure we had a great trip. She hooked us up with coupons and vouchers for the main attractions (Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, etc) and gave excellent suggestions for dining and kid friendly activities. I will definitely stay there again!

The Newton is a good value. On our last stay everything went right. Our room was
quiet and clean. The elevator was brisk. The staff was pleasant.
The upper west side location is probably not for the first time visitor to New York unless they are good with public transit and looking for value. But
the hotel is steps away from the express subway that can take you to key locations in the city
in matter of minutes. Very, very handy.
We look forward to staying again.

We stayed for a week at this hotel and found it suited our needs perfectly. The room was not big, but big enough for two and housekeeping kept it clean and tidy. The bathroom was good and also very clean. There was no view as our room faced the back, but that was something we had not expected anyway. At least it was quiet at night. We didn't stay very long in the hotel room during the days anyway - New York was there to be explored! The area seemed safe and there were lots of nice options for breakfast. Also, it was only a short walk to Central Park which really was good to have nearby for strolls. So, all in all a good hotel where we would be happy to stay again.
