“good location, good price, delightful inside too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

With everything you need for breakfast supplied, PLUS coffee, it's a great place to sit & figure out where to head each morning.
I stayed for 3 nights in Nov 2011 over marathon weekend. The suites are a block from the subway & buses going past the door its an easy place to find any time of the day. Its in the lower parts of Harlem, so there is lots going on, but i felt safe as a single female - even getting off the subway at 9pm and walking by myself. I spent the majority of my 5 week stay in Harlem - its safer than many Australian places after dark!!

Very stylish suites with all the mods you need, soft towels, clean & comfy bed. The guys/managers are lovely, staff are friendly & helpful. Some great eats nearby (or delivered)

Yes this is NY - the city really does stay up all night. Noises come and go - the only way to avoid them is to book yourself into a room above the 15th floor of any building (but who goes to NY for a sleepy quiet holiday?) The sounds of the city remind you you're in one of the worlds best cities.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor for a little more quiet (or pack ear plugs). They were replacing bl...

Stayed 3 nights in the Lexington and Fifth Avenue suites and have but compliments for the owners! The suites were so clean, we could have eaten off the floor! Very spacious, tastefully decorated and well equiped. Ample fluffly towels in the bathroom and a firm mattress, ensuring a home-away-from-home feeling. We really appreciated the milk, cereal, tea, and coffee provided daily for guests, as well as the full-size fridge. We were able to keep bottles of water and drinks cold to take away with us as we toured the city. The inn is situated in a vibrant ethnic neighborhood near Central Park and museums with easy access to the subway. We drove in from Canada and easily found parking on 104th Street where we left our car for the duration of our stay. The inn keeper, Olga, welcomed us with a typical no-nonsense New Yorker attitude that we really appreciated. Do not be put off by the outside of the building - the suites are impeccable!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 1st floor facing 3rd Avenue can be a little noisy on Friday or Saturday nights when eve...

Stayed at the apartments at the beginning of June 2012 and couldn't fault them. Situated just far enough outside the main hustle and bustle of the city that anything was easy to get to with a subway ride which a station is virtually on your doorstep. NYC center was a 15 min ride oneway while the Yankee Stadium was a 15 min ride the other way. The North/East side Central park was a 5-10 min walk away.

The apartments were clean and well stocked with breakfast cereals and cold drinks and if it didn't have what you wanted there are plenty of food stores nearby.

As everyone has said before in previous reviews the owners were only to pleased to help and made our stay far much easier and enjoyable.

If I had to fault one thing it is the noise of the air conditioning units. Had to have them on full blast as tempretures reached into the 90's. So if you are visiting in mid summer be prepared for this. Got used to it after the first night though as NY does tire you out.

So if you are looking for a better option than staying in the main part of NYC, you dont want to pay fancy hotel prices and you want to see a different part of NY culture then this is the place to be. ....9.5/10

Room Tip: We stayed on the top floor (4th) so there are a lot of stairs that didnt bother us but if it does as...

As I first entered the suite, I was greeted by a huge cockroach slithering up the bedroom wall. The "innkeeper" looked nervously away and said: "I've never seen that before." Yeah, right. He left to get a pen, and during that time, I was greeted by another cockroach (perhaps it was the same one) slithering across the floor. I was able to step on it, and the innkeeper was nice enough to clean it up. Ugh. That night, at 2 a.m., I was woken up by two workers outside yelling at each other, followed by drilling, and then followed by two hours of what sounded like someone cleaning screens with a hose. This went on until 4 a.m.! Mindboggling. And I had to get up at 7 a.m. for a business meeting. To make matters worse, when I checked out, I realized within an hour that I had left some items in the room. I immediately called the "hotel", which unfortunately is simply an answering service! Believe it or not, but there is no way in which to contact the hotel directly. There was no call back. I called the following day and the following day. And finally four days later after complaining strongly to the answering service, I did get a call from the innkeeper, who said he would look into it and give me a call right back. Twentyfour hours later, still no call. I will contact my credit card company to reverse all charges for this diastrous stay. Additionally, the Upper Yorkville Suites are in a very iffy, questionable neighborhood, and there is no taxi service available. You have to walk several blocks to hail a cab. The only positive thing I can say is that there is an excellent Mexican restaurant very close to the Suites, called El Paso, 1643 Lexington Avenue. Highly recommended. I stayed two nights for $511.90. What a horrible experience! Stay away!!!

Thank you very much for your recent stay with us.

We are very proud of the level of service our staff provides to our guests, the cleanliness of our property and the overall experience rendered to our guests. Independent guest reviews listed on TripAdivor, Bookings.com, BedAndBreakfast.com clearly illustrate this fact.

For this reason your comments are very troubling to us and we would like to share with you that the “Drilling at 2:00AM” was a unique situation that occurred at an adjacent property, not our property, and was due to an emergency repair to their air-conditioning system. Additionally, we maintain a very high standard regarding the cleanliness of our property and each suite.

During the check-in we explain to all our guests that public and private transportation is plentiful and easily accessible. Public transportation (Bus and Train) is available in a 1-block radius. Yellow Taxi’s are available on 3rd Avenue and Lexington Avenue, again in a 1-block radius of our property. Private car service is also available and we provide a number to a local car company that many of our past guests have used.

Our answering service is available 24 hours a day to ensure that are guests are able to contact us during the normal business day and after hours. We firmly believe that we handled your request for lost items in a timely manner and within our policies and guidelines.

Lastly, we believe that the uniqueness of our product, a modern 500 SQ FT Apartment with all the necessary comforts of home, coupled with free internet, and daily housekeeping service exceeds what most guest will experience else where, all at an affordable price.

We stayed at Upper Yorkville Suites for 5 nights from June 2nd 2012, and we have nothing bad to report. Our apartment was spotless, there was a daily maid service, breakfast/tea/coffee etc supplied, and the owners were more than helpful, they work in the store downstairs and told us to call in anytime with any concerns - we had none. The subway is a block away and the neighbourhood is grand, you are out of midtown but we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Yes 3rd Ave is noisy, but i've stayed on the 16th floor of a midtown hotel in the past and found it noisier. The only thing we asked advice on was transport to the airport on the last day - and they organised it all for us. We would not hesitate to recommend Upper Yorkville to our friends.

The York apartment on the 2nd floor was a great home away from home for our one week stay in New York (May 6-12). The apartment, located at the back of the building , was quiet, clean, had charm and the kitchen was well equipped No view, but this is NYC and we were out most of the time, but really liked the option of having breakfast at home. There was a basket of cereals and milk in the fridge, along with tea and coffee. We enjoyed being iaway from the tourist zones, but also appreciated that the subway is only a couple of short blocks, allowing easy access to everywhere. The one week subway/bus pass is a great deal!

Room Tip: The bathroom in the York apartment is a tight and awkward space for a large person to maneuver,

Just got back from a 5-day, 4 night stay at the Upper Yorkville Suites in the Broadway Suite and we had an amazing time! Myself and two girlfriends experienced our first ever trip to NYC and I decided an apartment was a great place to stay and give us the real New York living feel! We certainly got that feeling here! The apartment building is clean and well maintained and is right off a major subway line. After reading so many negative reviews of 3-5 star hotels in New York and then finding no bad reviews here, we had to stay here! We found the people in the area very friendly. The location is great for Central Park and museums but it's even great for getting downtown, the subway is just around the corner and you can pretty much get anywhere within 30 minutes.
My friends and I loved the place, it was spacious and clean, Dave who took care of our needs was very friendly and helpful, and we have all said we would stay there again when visiting New York.

Room Tip: If you don't like stairs try and stay on the lower floors.
