Cheap and good midtown lunch options which have fixed addresses are tough to come by but Indus certainly fits the bill. Under $10 for a two curry box lunch with fresh homemade chapati or naan is tough to beat. Also cheap beer if you're looking for a budget curry dinner....

We had the lunch special for ten dollars and were so chuffed we went back the next day for more. You get a plastic tray with rice and a choice of main (chicken / lamb / paneer vindaloo , chicken tikka masala, chick pea dhal, etc, etc) plus two sides sich as spinach, lentils or even another curry, and nan bread/salad/dips. You will be really full after it all, and it's way above a normal indian buffet for taste, temperature and service. And best of all, you'll be eating two minutes after you walk in. They also cook special dishes if you want, but you really cant beat the fast food lunch special.

Didn't have the buffet but ordered from the menu. Good food, good portions and great value. If you are looking for a quick bite of Indian food near Times square, this restaurant can't be beat.
