“Fantastic Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

Went here on a wet day to be greeted by friendly experienced staff and a great wee museum!. Inexpensive entry fee and lots to take in. Set on 2 floors there are exhibits dating from 1800.
There are plenty of photo opertunities and the 911 rememberance area is very moving.

A hidden gem in New York

“Nice Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

The staff has done a great job keeping the history of FDNY. Some great stories and apparatus. The early days of the fire department was heavily influenced by politics and insurance companies. I would have enjoyed learning more about these topics and how the department was influenced.

“Small but nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

The museum is rather small but is very nicely done. It offers old fire engines to look at, and a touching 9/11 memorial room. You can also try on some FDNY gear. Unfortunately, that was the only interactive feature - it would have been nice if my son could actually climb on a fire engine (which you can do at the FDNY Fire Zone by Rockefeller Center). The staff was really friendly. All in all, well worth a visit, especially with kids.

“Worth it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012 via mobile

Worth a trip and admission is $8. 911 exhibit is good and you can try on real FDNY clothing and fire hats. A shop with all your merchandise and tshirts. They are a little expensive and you can get them cheaper elsewhere. However the most unhelpful male assistant can be found here which is worth a visit on its own. Very informative and worth a trip
