With great anticipation I approached RCMH about to see Tony Bennett in concert, with the memories of former visits to this great movie palace vivid and alive in my mind, I just knew this would be one of those special “why I live in NYC” moments…then I arrived.
All of the attendants are minimum waged employees, doing the least they can in every aspect of their position. From the outside recorded announcements (maybe someone articulate next time?) to the “security” (why even bother people with this farce when you don’t even take a cursory look in packages and purses?) to the seating attendants (those folks who didn’t even have one of those mini flashlights to help find your way and kept guessing where and what row our seats were located?), this was a sad, sad farce.
The only thing that saved the evening was of course Mr. Bennett.
Cell phone camera’s with flashes going off, people recording on them as well did not distract from his performance.
I can’t imagine why I would return.
