This art museum is a complete must if you visit NYC. Such a marvellous collection of art over a very wide range. Wonderful examples of rococo - Fragonard, Boucher and in the next room two quite startling Holbeins with a superb El Greco in between. The two large Gainsboroughs in the third room are quite breathtaking - really magnificent! A beautifully sombre Manet, in another lovely room with two Watteau and a lovely Degas and all this before you even get to the main long gallery with its selection including two wonderful Turners and a truly marvellous Rembrandt self portrait. The paintings are wonderful enough but the house is also full of other lovely artefacts, vases, silverware, figurines etc. This is a great 'house' museum to potter round and really take your time as its only small and you don't have to rush. Perfectly located for a nice stroll in Central Park afterwards to contemplate all the wonderful masterpieces you have seen.
