My husband and I love live jazz. We tried out Smoke Jazz Club on a Thursday night (dinner reservations and show). My first impressions were not the greatest based on a telephone call made from my home in Toronto to the Club in NYC. I had called to ask about buying tickets etc. The person on the other end seemed almost "put out" when I asked for some clarification. I figured things out myself and bought tickets for both the show and then paid for dinner that night. The venue itself was okay. Intimate space but a bit tacky. The live show was fine but could have been longer. We weren't sure if we were welcomed to stay for the second set or if we were expected to pay our dinner bill and make room for the 9pm crowd. The meal itself was way over priced for what we received. The food was average; large amount but not hot enough. The service was efficient but lacked a personal touch. I would much rather go to the Jazz Standard than this club.
