“Get what you pay for”

We love the skyscraper exhibit at Liberty Science Center. I expected this to be better. I should have realized that with the low cost ($5 pp) it wouldn't be great. We were very disappointed. We probably spent 30 minutes there. Just lots of signs to read about the history of building. Nothing hands on and not really anything about the structural building of skyscrapers. Go to Liberty Science Center!

“Skscraper Museum For A Pleasant Hour Or Two”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

A gem of a museum. The current attraction ( Urban Fabric ) is a brilliant overview of New York's
famed garment district. It mixes architecture, city planning, social history as well as fashion history and commercial real estate marketing. The other exhibits feature some fascinating photos, maps and models of the World Trade Center area before and after the 9/11 attacks. I would heartily recommend this museum. It as very modest entrance fee and it will not overwhelm the visitor. The whole place can be viewed in around an hour to an hour and half. Nice gift shop.

“Not bad...need to explain where buildings are”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

This is a small museum by Battery Park. Easy to miss. But it it is informative. There are a lot of interesting facts about buildings all over the world, but they do not explain where the buildings are. The fee is minimal, but it is a nice side note in NYC.

“If you can find it....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

It was a very exasperating experience trying to find this museum. I even had a staff member on the phone but she couldn't help because the staffer didn't know any of the names of the streets adjacent to Battery PL. No sign - not allowed to have one they said. Since we had arranged and paid for a special tour for our group, they hadn't turned any lights on in the building yet so you couldn't even see the 4 inch high letters sandblasted into the glass door when you stood right in front of the place. We arrived in the Battery early and ended up driving around for over 30 minutes. Any idea how easy it is to drive around that part of Manhattan in a 56 passenger bus?. We virtually had to just walk through look at a couple of things and leave. Interestingly they still charged us the extra gallery fee. The same staffer only took 15 minutes trying to find a way to charge my credit card, uggh!

“An exhibition which needs more passion”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

It started with a bored cashier. Continued with only one exhibition floor, no possibilty to sit down and have a rest, at least some interesting modells and photos, but nothing for an C-rating. My review shows that I was disappointed and expected more fascination, extent and love for details from the subject skyscrapers.
