“Highlight of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

What a gem! Sophie, our guide on the Irish Outsiders tour, was incredibly engaging and informative. This is how history should be taught...through story. We learned so much in a short time. Expensive but worth it!

“Part of my family's past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Some of our grandparents lived in tenements when they first came to America. Thjis museum, in a tenement, brings it all alive for us. We wonder how they lived this way, and made their way up the ladder of success.

“Disappointing museum”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Visited the Tenement House on 26 December 2012 because we had heard good reviews from relatives who had visited this place a good few years ago. We expected to see the whole house and that is why we went there but you get divided into groups and can only see part of the actual house. A lot of the visit was taken up by an audio-visual set-up and listening to music. I realise that the museum want to bring the place to life by focussing on certain families who lived there but frankly we did not go there to sit in a room listening to Irish songs and trying to imagine what life was like then. We had a brief look into the rooms but spent 15 minutes outside, 15 minutes in the audi-visual room and very little time to see everything else. It was like being in school and the guide was always asking the visitors what they thought rather than giving out information.

“So glad we didn't miss this!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This tour was recommended by friends and it was so worthwhile. Brought us back to our roots and what life was like for immigrants. Our guide was so enthusiastic and knowlegebable and made her tour come to life.
Very nice gift shop on the main floor.

“Cool historic site”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

I really enjoyed 2 of the tours in the Tenement Museum. Very knowledgeable tour guide and able to walk through the rooms, not just stand in the doorway. Lots of great details in this old building. Great details and photos of former tenants. Enjoyed the film also.
