“Great Get Away!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2012

This hotel was perfect in so many ways. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Our room was incredible! The bed and shower were so comfortable and relaxing. All of the little details made this hotel seem very cozy and a wonderful place to stay. Lastly, if you get a chance you have to try the pool it is amazing! I would definitely go back to this hotel if I was to visit NY again.

We booked a deluxe room for 2 nights through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts. It was pricey -$700 a night. The room was gorgeous though (Room 312), full of character with beautiful linens, interesting rugs, and a great couch. We had a street view and had no noise issues. We slept great! The free soft drinks, juice, candy, etc. is a great touch. The bathroom was large and very elegant with white marble (no tub though). The private guests only lobby was a real treat. The fire was always roaring and the service in there was fantastic. All in all a great stay!

my husband and i have stayed all over nyc in some of the nicest hotels around (the pierre, the ritz --battery park and cp, trump, the new york palace etc). Over the past few years we have migrated to lower manhattan as our preferred base; however, until recently, options there were somewhat limited. The Greenwich has been around for awhile but the price always turned me off a little--big money for a kind of small room. Well, I'm here to say, I was wrong. The Greenwich is awesome, our room was great, very unique and homey feeling (fabulous bathroom) and they include a lot things in the price that tend to make me feel nickled and dimed at other hotels. For example, wi-fi, instead of paying 15-20/day, it's included. That's $40-60 right there on a weekend stay. The mini-bar--stocked with great stuff and also included. We're big mini bar people so that's a $50 savings right there for us. House car to drive you around--included if it's available. If you can afford this place, I would definitely stay here. And if you have an amex platinum, they are now part of the program so you get a lot of bang for your buck. We were double upgraded and got a $100 spa certificate, which, unfortunately, I didn't have to time to us (crazy, right?). We've stayed at Trump Soho twice, which is very nice, but this place has a special feel that will keep us coming back. One final note, we are maniacs about noise, particularly hallway noise. The room we stayed in had a door to the hallway, a foyer, and then another door to the bedroom--excellent for keeping out the hallway noise.

A very nice small hotel in Tribeca, with lots of charm and personality. Free snacks and soft drinks, lovely courtyard and a very cosy bar. If you want to stay away from the crowded big hotels, this one will do the job. Walking distance to Ground Zero, subways nearby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

Stayed with my girlfriend at the Greenwich Hotel between Christmas and New Years Day - and having stayed in various hotels up town including various W's, KImptons, Intercontinentals - I have to say without doubt this is my favourite hotel in NYC. Everything about the hotel works from the quality of the the rooms to the superb service. Its more like staying in a private club than a hotel. The beds are amazing - and I honestly think I had the best nights sleep ever - beyond comfortable, the finest sheets, tons of pillows, and a mattress you want to go out and buy immediately. The hotel is very zen -but so comforting. I think what we really liked was the getaway from the hustle and bustle of uptown, to the quietness of Tribecca at night, and once inside the hotel apart from the public area you really don't see anyone, and never heard the rooms next door or above, or a single door closing. The rooms aren't huge, (but its NYC but more generous than most - and so quiet) but they are lit with variable light levels, and every rooms seems individual. Sofa in the room, bookshelves stacked with interesting books, a fridge and snacks that they don't charge you for (apart from alcoholic beverages), free wifi throughout the hotel, I dock and speaker, great TV's, and the most powerful power showers and superb bathrooms. Never known a bath tub to fill so quickly. The downstairs bar (for guests only - another really nice touch), is again very comforting with a large open fire place and Christmas tree (when we visited)- and you can also eat there with the full menu from the restaurant Loccanda Verdi. Prices are reasonable. In the Summer they have an open courtyard - again which escapes the noises of NYC. My girlfriend thought the spa area and pool were great, and the have a first class restaurant attached Locanda Verdi. If anyone had any complaint, it maybe that during the day it can take 30 mins or so to get uptown by cab, or coming back downtown from Central Park, however on a Sunday took just over 10 mins. (It's worth the journey to escape back to the tranquil surroundings and within the hotel). Metro also very close. Having always been attracted to the up town shops on 5th Avenue etc, we discovered the areas around Tribeca are so cool, great boutique shops, first class restaurants, Wholefoods!, and the areas of Soho and the West Village are so close. Have stayed at alot of first class hotels, and what we truly liked about the Greenwich is that it's not hiding behind a massive lobby entrance with the name plastered all over it, so it survives on reputation, and so it deserves too, this is the best address to stay at in NYC in our humble opinion. Few hotels get 10/10 but the Greenwich does without question. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: 706 - but every rooms is different - but this was so quiet (even on the main street of Greenwich)

This is my favorite hotel in NYC. I love the cozy atmosphere and all the nice touches. Had a deluxe king room with a balcony and it felt like I was somewhere in europe. Love the big wood doors and the charming decor. I'm not sure all of the rooms are like this but ours had a sign saying everything (except alcohol) in the minibar was free because nobody should pay $9 for a bag of chips! They had the most delicious oatmeal cookie sandwiches waiting for us at arrival. I love touches like that. The staff was friendly and Locanda Verde next door has great food and is where they get their room service from. Beds are extremely comfortable as well. Really enjoyed my stay!

Went another time and the spa was amazing. They have a heated swimming pool in a cool, cozy lounge area. Wish I had my bathing suit!
