They put the other motels in the area to shame as they must pay more to the cleaning staff then the competitors. Front desk lady checking in was more than helpful. Half the price that the big chains wanted to charge us.

I tried doing a walk-in here. I asked the elderly woman behind the front desk if they had any free rooms. Big FAUX PAS. She first stared a me for a bit while collecting anger, then unleashed a string of snide comments about how the rooms aren't FREE, rather AVAIABLE etc., which she drug out in to a painfully over-done monolog. After getting the price I went back to the car to talk it over and compare online with other hotels in the area.

Just as I decide to book the room despite the over-aggressive receptionist, there is a knock on my car window. I look up to her glaring down at me. She orders me to stop "sucking off their wifi". I'm too shocked by the whole thing to do anything other than just start the car and leave.

This is how they attract business?

It was dated but clean, older than newer, and a bit of a "rough welcome" lets you know that this is going to be a "good" place to spend the night, shower, and move on.

It was the best priced hotel at $115+ in Carlsbad, came with a free breakfast that I had to skip, and was in an EXCELLENT location for my needs. I'm used to nicer hotels BUT for families who just need some room to spread out (the room was fairly large) that had everything working (A/C, water, shower, etc.) this is a good place to pick.

Overall I was satisfied... it's just not up to a "Fairfield Inn" type of property. If I were traveling with my family, wanted a free breakfast and a comfortable place that wasn't fancy, I'd choose this place again.

Lots of hotels in Carlsbad are expensive, I chose this based on ratings and the price. The desk clerk was one of the friendliest people I have ever met and the rooms were large and clean. Everything about this place was fine- they could use more places to plug in phones and tablets/computers in the rooms. Breakfast was extensive for the price-- all in all a very nice stay.
