What a beautiful location and gorgeous bed and breakfast! We spent time exploring Southern Utah and the area National Parks, and our nights at Skyridge Inn were certainly the highlight of our vacation. The drive to the Inn is simply breathtaking, with all of the colored cliffs and sage-colored hills. We spotted six bald eagles on the drive. Spectacular! The Inn, itself, is so warm and cozy. The common room is so inviting, with wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen, picture books, games, and views of the red cliffs. While enjoying the scenery, we saw mule deer grazing in the yard, red-winged blackbirds, jays, chickadees and other birds at the bird feeder, and a very ambitious cat stalking both a jack rabbit and a cottontail. The Agnews made us feel very welcomed during the evening appetizers (delicious!), and it was a delight to share tales of our journeys with them. Our upstairs room had spectacular views of the surrounding area that we soaked in as we sat in the hot tub on our private balcony sipping wine in the crisp, clean air. The bed and linens were heavenly, and the amenities in the room were perfect. After enjoying a morning cup of coffee in the hot tub, we joined others in the dining room for an amazing breakfast. With the Inn located near Capitol Reef National Park, we were able to go exploring the natural beauty of the area during the day and return to the Inn in the evening for another wonderful night. We stayed three nights, and we are certainly including Skyridge Inn on our next vacation to the area!

We stayed for 2 nights at Skyridge Inn in August. We had high expectations of this particular place on our trip. This was 1 of 15 places we stayed on our 2 month trip across the SouthWest and was possibly the most disappointing. We stayed in the Juniper room which although nicely furnished had clearly not been given a good clean for some time, hence the noticable dust and the spiders I had to chase out of the room.

I am not normally a person who complains at every little thing but I must mention that not at one time did I feel relaxed here. During the drinks and nibbles, which took place mid afternoon, we found it very difficult to strike up a converstation with the owner who was clearly not interested in us or the other people staying. Like someone had mentioned in a previous review we also felt that we had to rush our breakfast and we were on the last sitting!

This is the only occasion I have ever felt i've had to whisper in a bed and breakfast since we did not feel comfortable enough to just relax. It is clear to see the that the owners are ready for retirement and this came across during our stay here. This is not a place for seniors to stay since it was a struggle carrying luggage up the stairs with no offer of help. I suggest if you would like a warm friendly welcome stay elsewhere in Torrey, there are plenty of good options in the area.

We recently spent the night in the Pinon Room of the Skyridge Inn. Room was lovely and amentities were plenty (Coffee, CD Player, Toiletries, Hot tub). We enjoyed the view from the hot tub area, but wished the hot tub deck allowed seating area as well. Wish I had read the previous review...signed up for 8am breakfast and was rushed away from the table to accommodate the 8:30 folks. Didn't even finish an otherwise good meal. We agreed that the innkeepers were not overly friendly, but they did keep a lovely inn.

This B&B has nice facilites - room was nicely decorated, comfortable, clean, and had lovely amenities (bath salts, extra towels for using hot tub, coffee maker, CD player). The evening before you needed to sign up for a breakfast time - either 7:30 or 8 - and at that time are provided with information about the next day's breakfast, which was good and filling. We chose the 7:30 time so that we could get an early start, but felt a bit pressured to hurry up as it got close to 8 (so that they could get ready for the next seating). Hosts were nice, but I must comment that they seemed a bit tired and burnt out. I noticed that the place is for sale, and that might be an indication that they are getting tired of the routine. Another indication of this is that the social hour is only 30 minutes long, and they start packing stuff up after about 20-25 minutes. Although the rooms are lovely, they do not offer good views of the beautiful Torrey mountains, so if you are into that sort of thing, you might want to stay at one of the nearby motels (they all seemed to have good views). They say there is turndown service, but we never received it. I think I saw in the literature that you have to ask for it??! If you have to ask for it, what is the point? Overall we had a nice stay, and hosts were okay, but it is clear that they are tiring of the business. I would still consider returning, but would also look into other places in the area.

  • Liked — comfortable rooms, good breakfasts
  • Disliked — Innkeepers seemed tired of running the inn
  • Tips/Secrets: — Capitol Reef offers orchards with free fruit during summer months (check ahead for ripening times)

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at SkyRidge during a week trip to southcentral Utah. The inn is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished with high-quality southwest decor and a comfy common room with books, games, maps and information on the area. We stayed in a queen room with a private balcony with hot tub (very serene at sunset). The tasty snacks and drinks at 5:00 were much appreciated after a long day of hiking/sightseeing and we enjoyed talking with the other guests while eating these wonderful treats. Breakfast was equally good and entertaining with conversation and watching the myriad birds at the birdfeeders outside the dining room window. The inn and rooms were immaculate and very well appointed. We had everything we needed and more in our room. Highly recommend a stay here.

We ate at Cafe Diablo, and, though enjoyable, didn't think it quite lived up to its famous reputation. My husband had the ribs (beautiful presentation but too greasy). I had pecan-encrusted chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. Tasty, by not fabulous.
Also ate at the Rim Rock restaurant. Just American-style food, but it was good and service was attentive.

Also stopped once for coffee at the small coffee/espresso place next to the visitor center at Torrey. Don't remember the name of it , but it was fabulous. Great coffee and home made scones , chocolates and other goodies (think "Chocolat" in the desert.) Definitely worth a stop. Not your average coffee place! The scones are scrumptious.
