This is a wonderful, quirky motel and restaurant-- it had a delightful, left-of-center vibe that was such a pleasant departure from chain motels. The rooms were large, clean, and while certainly not modern, very comfortable. Loved the alternative local paper-- you get a sense of the southern UT counterculture.
The restaurant is the real draw-- don't be put off by the bright lights, which make it look more like a diner. The food was fresh, local, and healthy, and the service, while a bit slow at times, was friendly and clearly family operated. The absolute best was the older gentleman (who I'm guessing is the owner?) who played some swinging standards on an electric piano for most of the evening-- he was fantastic and very charming. Such fantastic fruits and vegetables-- this is a real oasis.
We arrived here after a long drive up route 12 from Bryce-- it was some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen. Torrey was a great stop on our southwest road trip, and Capitol Inn was an excellent value.
