I happened to be in Manteo the other day for some business and stopped in Ortega’z based on the triple D. We ordered the sampler platter to get started and it came out so fast I was concerned. Yep it was pre-done and not very impressive. The chicken planks were tepid at best and no seasoning. The nacho’s had cheese that was solid and the bottom was soggy. At !!13.95!! I did not think so!
I held out hope for dinner. However, that did not fair very well either. I had the shrimp and chorizo alfredo over pasta. Now I’m no trained chef but when chorizo is normally in something like this it’s out of the casing, broken down, and in amongst the dish. This was sliced and still in the casing and that made it very tough to chew. The “shrooms,” take a normal white mushroom cut the cap into quarters, and I got three pieces. Ohh, wait the other feature for this dish is the shrimp! I almost forgot them, mostly because the kitchen did too! There were 4, that’s right, four shrimp, not some monster cut them with a knife shrimp, but four small shrimp that I dare say may have been pre cooked and tossed in. This is an $18.99 entrée?! Four shrimp and some wet alfredo for $18.99!! NOT AGAIN!
