This is a little inn with three buildings; most rooms are in the main inn. We opted for the $125 "King Suite" which turned out to be upstairs in one of the side buildings. (They don't mention that it is upstairs on the website, any more than they mention that the picture on the website is a composite - their front yard is very small and the parking lot requires carefuly manipulation to avoid auto damage during parking.)
The "king suite" is a very clean, quite large room, with a king bed (not very comfortable). It is very private, which we like. Decor is comfortable, windows on three sides. On the bed, the four pillows are all the "foam slab" type -- we're glad we brought our own. The bathroom has two tiny motel-type soaps and one larger one for the bath. That's it for toiletries. There is a closet-size kitchen -- which is where the first disappointment came in. The fridge is stocked with grocery-store "stuffed bagels," cream cheese, muffins and juice for you to have a DIY breakfast if you like junk food. The video/DVD player doesn't work, and the room lacks the usual "how it works or who to contact" note on how to get help. The AC sounds like a 747 -- a shock when it goes on in the middle of the night.
Location - it's an easy and pleasant walk to the waterfront, but unfortunately a developer is building a series of houses in the (former) park across the street, so we were awakened at 7 a.m. with pounding and banging.
The man who was working "reception" said his name was Theo, and that he couldn't hear and didn't like to wear his hearing aids. We never met the ledgendary Sally and Phil. Theo was friendly enough, but didn't seem to know what he was doing, including whether or not we had a reservation. He didn't do anything more than take our $ (did I mention he required a check, no credit card -- which we were NOT told when we made our reservation) and he didn't give us a detailed bill to show how much was tax. When I asked, however, he did give me a receipt for the total amount.
All in all -- the noise outside our window . . . the AC being so loud . . . the tacky breakfast . . . the doctored photo on the website . . . and the lack of professionalism in the welcome . . . lead me to give this a much lower rating than others have done.
We would not stay here again.
