“A lovely B&B well situated for the Outer Banks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We stayed for two nights last weekend and had a great time. The B&B is located right on the sound and a very short walk from Manteo. The rooms are a good size and have all you need. A good continental breakfast is served.

The beach is less than 10 mins away and you in the middle of the Outer Banks, going left to Duck or south to Hatteras & and over to Ocracoke. We did the length and breadth in 2 days.

We hit up Coquina Beach, which is nice but a normal east coast beach, i.e. not great sand and the sea is freezing. Guess we have neen spoilt by the Florida panhandles white beaches and azure blue sea.

Recommend the brewpub Full Moon for a beer, which is a 5 min walk from the hotel. In Duck we went to Blue Point, which is really good. Only a 30 drive from the B&B without traffic (we went late Saturday).

To see we did and recommend: a ferry to Ocracoke and the Howard Pub and on to the harbour (looks a bit like P town), Jockeys Ridge State Park, Wright Bros and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this restored, quaint inn nestled in the heart of the historic town of Manteo, close to the Outer Banks. The room was immaculate, the service friendly and available, the grounds were gorgeous.

Room Tip: We loved our semi-private porch with a view of the inlet.

Rita-Carlton style hospitality is alive and well in a small island inn in North Carolina. Innkeepers Dee and Sarah are so much more than breakfast hostesses and concierges. They are truly engaging and committed to their guests' satisfaction.

The guest rooms are comfortable, well-appointed, and meticulously clean. The public areas are charming and stocked for every need.

Staying at The Roanoke Island Inn is like spending time at your favorite aunt's house. We had three rooms upstairs for a small family gathering over a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the Manteo harbor, the sound, and Nag's Head island.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms feel a bit more secluded, open to a covered porch, and probably have better views...

We had a wonderful 6 night stay at the inn. It was exactly as the pictures and other reviews represented. It is absolutely charming with wonderful views. The continental breakfast was very nice with fresh fruit daily and plenty of variety. Dee was wonderful and helpful with any request we had. We highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Manteo.

We chose Manteo and the Roanoke Inn for our 20th Anniversary. We had no reference points and based our choice solely on the internet so I was a little nervous that everything would be nice. The Roanoke Inn was more than we could have dreamed. It is absolutely lovely and the grounds are gorgeous.

Dee was so gracious and helpful during our stay. We consider she and Sarah our friends now. Each room is beautiful and has its own theme. Choosing a room with a bay view is very nice but if they are full the views of the garden/yard would not disappoint.

The Inn provided bicycles to tour the extensive waterfront district and umbrella and chairs for the beach. The continental breakfast, snacks and drinks were all we needed each day.

The town of Manteo is charming. There is a beautiful waterfront area, extensive boardwalks and alot of history to enjoy.

We definitely hope to return someday..

This was our first trip to Manteo and we had an amazing stay at the Inn. The location is beautiful, just across from the Marshes Lighthouse. It was a very short walk to shops, restaurants, and the movie theater, but still secluded enough to have a peaceful rest. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the reception area had loads of books and board games, accessible any time of day. Dee was extremely helpful and even provided us with some assistance when my wife's dress was missing a button. We will return again...soon I hope! Thank you for a great stay!

Hard to add much to the other reviews. The place is great. Dee is very welcoming and attentive. The downstairs rooms don't have a great view of the water as the windows are small but the upstairs porch, which all may use, is incredible. The common area is very well stocked, including a drawer of things just in case you forgot. The location is great, right across from the water and a short walk into town. About the only thing that could be improved is if they provided bath robes for walking to the main house for coffee in the morning. We would definitely stay there again.
