“A Little Piece of Paris on Cape Cod”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

PB Boulangerie offers an amazing selection of mouth-watering (and eye-pleasing) pastries and breads! Don't let the long line deter you from waiting! The breads are unlike anything we found elsewhere on Cape Cod. We've been to French bakeries in Europe and NYC, and the quality of bakery items here rivals those we've had in major cities. The owner often comes out from the kitchen with a big smile on his face, and he greets his customers. We visited here several times for their fabulous breads and confections. We have yet to eat at their bistro (maybe next trip)!

“What is all the fuss about?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Is the cape THAT starved for restaurants that this would be the in place? Ok, we just went for lunch, but the panini was pathetic. One little slice of proscuitto. Croquet Monsieur was fine. Way overrated! Maybe we will give it another chance? Maybe not!

Amazing on every front! Service, food, ambiance all outstanding. Biked there from Brewster with my family and we all raved about how delicious our lunch was.

“An Extraodinary Evening Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

Wellfleet is not really the hub of anywhere so it does take some effort to get there. It's well worth the time though. I was treated to a birthday dinner here and it is truly the type of dinner that feels like a special occasion. We decided not to get an appetizer since we wanted to splurge on dessert so I can't speak personally about those but I must say, they looked amazing. The people next to us got something as a starter that looked like a work of art with piped dip and geometric flags of what appeared to be colored tortilla chips. While we were waiting for our meals, our server brought an elegant bottle of (free!) "Wellfleet water" and a basket of breads featuring baguette slices and the most delicious, chewy cheese bread I've ever tasted, along with some creamy, perfect, and spreadable butter. My friend and I put our main courses in the middle of the table and shared everything. "Everything" included a cod dish consisting of a generous portion of fresh cod, perfectly breaded on a bed of mixed potato and salt cod. The salt cod added just the right savoriness to the dish and was elegantly browned on top. We also ordered mussels which came with a brazier to keep them hot throughout the meal. They were served in a Cape Cod beer cream broth with bits of carrot, fennel and celery along with hints of lemongrass and ginger. This broth was so tasty my friend asked for a spoon to drink it like soup. That dish was accompanied by homemade french fries. Golden and hot and with the exact right amount of salt. Nothing extra was needed to make them stand on their own. We couldn't finish all of this food, which made us very sad (leftover mussels not being something we wanted to chance, no matter how good) but we wanted to leave room for that promised dessert. So glad we did - it was the highlight of the evening. We ordered the Fou au Chocolat which was so adorably presented, we almost didn't want to disturb it. We overcame that notion in record time, however. The rectangular serving platter came with an attached clear glass bowl of the creamiest chocolate mousse topped with a chocolate flower. Beside that was an English tea biscuit, frosted in chocolate with a wee ganache covered cake, decorated with a tiny, gold-leaf bead. And at the other end of the plate a little cup held a tiny Dove-bar like ice cream lollipop. Scrumptious, every bite. We did not order wine but the around us seemed very happy with their selections.

Our server (actually a small team of servers) was efficient, informative, and helpful. We sat out on the enclosed porch which was not only heated to a comfortable level but had the distinct advantage of being far quieter than the main dining room. We were there for over two hours and never once felt rushed. As we were leaving, we were each presented with a complimentary baguette. Good timing on our part and a nice gesture on theirs. Definitely a special occasion dinner restaurant but I will go back sooner to check out the breakfast and lunch menus!
