“Beautiful hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Just off Rte 6 at the Marchoni Station site, this short (1 mile) hike is worth the time. The trail winds down to a Atlantic White Cedar swamp behind the beach dunes that is accessed via a boardwalk. Magical and mystical, it's great for kids and I used to take my daughter there in all seasons. In the summer it is cool, dark and moist, in the winter leaves are suspended in crystal-clear frozen water. Not too strenuous, stay on the trail and avoid ticks, in the summer wear bug repellent.

“Enchanting......like a hobbit scene”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Since I live nearby I come often and always recommend it to guests. The cedar swamp contains the last vestige of cedar trees which were cut extensively in bygone years for all manner of building and survival. A wooden boardwalk winds thru the twisted shapes of trees and provides a very interesting walk.

“serene, other worldly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

The white cedar swamp trail is in the Marconi station area. Do not head to the beach, go left at the fork to the Marconi station historical point. The trail begins on the opposite side of the parking lot. It will meander through forest and dune, but the boardwalk through the swamp with its moss, collected pools of water and trees is unforgettable. Stop by the beach also, spectacular. It is off this beach that the Whydah was discovered.

“Spectacular”

Walk thru a swamp of cedars on an elevated wooden walk way. Like walking thru a haunted forrest. Very cool and unique. Bug spray is a MUST.

“Short walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Short walk through a White Cedar Swamp. Easy to get misdirected on the winding trails, but the area is small enough that you can figure it out. The first time we went, there was mist rising up from the wet ground and it looked like something out of a movie set. This time, no mist, just damp moss between the trees. Warning: bugs.
